Job Description

Job Summary

The Lead, Capacity Building drives the development and implementation of comprehensive training and professional development programs for healthcare staff, ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery and operational excellence. This role is pivotal in building a skilled, motivated workforce capable of meeting evolving healthcare challenges and supporting the organization’s mission of accessible, high-quality care. By identifying skill gaps and designing targeted interventions, the Lead fosters a culture of learning, innovation, and accountability. Success in this role directly enhances staff performance, patient outcomes, and organizational resilience.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deliver, and evaluate capacity-building initiatives, including workshops, mentorship programs, and e-learning modules, aligned with organizational and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with department heads to assess training needs, prioritize development areas, and integrate learning solutions into daily operations.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of capacity-building activities, using data to refine programs and demonstrate ROI to senior management.
  • Champion change management initiatives, ensuring staff are equipped to adapt to new policies, technologies, and healthcare standards.
  • Build partnerships with external training providers, academic institutions, and professional bodies to expand learning opportunities and resources.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years’ experience in healthcare training, organizational development, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Human Resources, Education, or a relevant discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Professional certification in training, HR, or healthcare management (e.g., CIPD, PMP, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement training strategies, facilitate adult learning, and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of driving measurable improvements in workforce performance.
  • Must be a resident of Imo State or open to relocation.
