About Assurance

 The Assurance service within Deloitte provides various cutting-edge services to clients. Our areas of expertise span across reporting, accounting transformation, sustainability and assurance. Specifically,

  • Through our “Accounting a Reporting Advisory” service offering we advise our clients on various Technical Accounting subjects including changes in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or other regulatory requirements, including digital enablement and change adoption. This varies from training to complex technical and transaction advisory, including training. 
  • Through our “Finance360” service offering we offer advisory on Close, Consolidate and Report improvement initiatives, including process, policy, automation and digitisation of the month-end financial close. This includes operational support at month end, year-end, or ‘on call’ accounting services. Further, we also provide advisory services on Internal Controls over Financial Reporting as required by various stock exchanges, including digital enablement. 
  • Our “Sustainability & Climate” service offering focuses on Integrated Reporting and report refresh initiatives to help our clients report value driven by their ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) activities, including climate change. 

Job Description

  • Support the development and implementation of the Assurance strategy within ARAS. This strategy aims at supporting clients in the areas of technical IFRS/ IPSAS and Sustainability reporting compliance.
  • Deliver on client’s reporting optimisation with a specific focus on Corporate Reporting systems and processes.
  • Manage the business portfolio and keeping track on financial KPIs including revenue, working capital, profit etc
  • Manage people and their performance through coaching, active leadership and ethical discipline.
  • Manage Finance Remediation to aid finance functions struggling to meet deadlines, produce accurate results or embed controls. Capabilities include:
    • Review and mapping of finance close process
    • Review and gapping of AFS process
    • Finance workshop facilitation
    • Deployment of tactical solutions
    • Automation and efficiency
    • Process mapping and control design
    • Audit readiness support
    • Disclosure benchmarking
    • Agentic AI
  • Carry out Finance Transformation and Modernisation with a focus on the optimal Target Operating model.
  • Provide technical accounting opinions and advice.
  • Deploy corporate reporting technology including Workiva, CaseWare, Quick consol etc
  • Develop financial reporting templates, financial statements and general ledger configurations.
  • Assisting with Consolidations and group reporting requirements.
  • Carry out IFRS implementation and financial reporting transformation projects supported by other relevant business units
  • Developing expertise in other International Financial Reporting Standards that impact companies including IFRS 18.
  • Providing assurance services including ISAE 3000, ISRS 2400, ISRS 4400 etc
  • Providing reporting accountant services.
  • Actively support in identifying sales opportunities in the Assurance market and contributing to the preparation of proposals/tenders and presentations for these clients.
  • Identify innovative solutions on projects / engagements to enhance / renew service offerings to client.
  • Prepare and deliver training material to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and sharing of knowledge and expertise with clients, colleagues and teams.
  • Manage client engagements and maintaining oversight of all engagements / projects within sphere of responsibility.
  • Act as a coach/mentor in developing team members and counselees on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications

  • Qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA). Added qualifications such as CFA, FRM, IFRS FSA is an added advantage.
  • Have a minimum of five credits in WASSCE Ordinary Level/NECO subjects or acceptable equivalent examination, including Mathematics and English Language in one sitting only.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in accounting consulting and Corporate Reporting Process.
  • Must have current technical accounting experience
  • Must be experienced in Sustainability and Climate Change services including IFRS S1 and S2 advisory.
  • Experience in implementing financial reporting technologies.
