The African Medical Centre of Excellence, Abuja (AMCE Abuja), a multi-specialty medical institution developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King's College Hospital London (KCH) aims to revolutionize healthcare in Africa. Established to address critical gaps, the AMCE Abuja is committed to providing world-class care through innovative research, development, and education. The partnership with King's College Hospital ensures global expertise, world-class clinical training, research, and professional development. The Centre will offer comprehensive services in oncology, haematology, cardiovascular care, and general healthcare across the continent, with plans for expansion. The construction phase, supported by global partners, precedes a phased rollout over six years, evolving into a 500-bed facility.

Set to commence operations in early 2025, this flagship facility in Abuja is a key part of Afreximbank’s network of healthcare facilities, actively countering brain drain, reducing medical tourism by offering advanced procedures such as stem cell transplantation and state-of-the-art treatments for various diseases, and fostering employment opportunities.     Job Description

    Job Purpose

    The Manager, Talent Management will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive talent strategies that align with the organization's business objectives and aligning employees to business objectives. This role oversees all aspects of talent management, including talent acquisition, development, performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement within the human resource directorate of AMCE. The role will contribute to strategic development within the directorate, and drive adherence to human resources best practices. This position requires advanced understanding of talent management best practices, industry trends, and a commitment to continuous professional development.

     

    Core Responsibilities

    Talent Acquisition:

    • Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
    • Partner with hiring managers to understand their talent needs and develop comprehensive job descriptions.
    • Utilize various recruitment channels, such as job boards, social media, and employee referrals.
    • Implement a robust employer branding strategy to attract top talent.
    • Manage the onboarding process, including orientation, paperwork, and new hire training.

    Talent Development:

    • Design and deliver comprehensive talent development programs, such as leadership development, technical skills training, and soft skills workshops.
    • Identify high-potential employees and create individualized development plans.
    • Implement a performance management system that includes regular performance reviews, goal setting, and feedback.
    • Facilitate career development conversations and provide coaching and mentoring.
    • Oversee succession planning initiatives to identify and develop future leaders.

    Performance Management:

    • Develop and implement a performance management system that aligns with the organization's goals.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide timely feedback.
    • Coach and mentor employees to improve their performance.
    • Implement performance improvement plans for underperforming employees.

    Succession Planning:

    • Identify and develop high-potential employees for key leadership roles.
    • Create a robust succession planning process to ensure business continuity.

    Employee Engagement:

    • Conduct employee engagement surveys and analyze results to identify areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement strategies to boost employee morale, satisfaction, and productivity.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work culture.
    • Organize employee recognition programs and events.

    Talent Analytics:

    • Utilize data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of talent management programs.
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track talent metrics, such as time-to-fill, turnover rate, and promotion rates.
    • Use data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and improve talent practices.

    Organizational Effectiveness

    • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to align talent strategies with business objectives.
    • Identify and address organizational challenges related to talent management.
    • Drive organizational change and transformation.
    • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices. 

    Qualifications

    Educational Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
    • MBA is an added advantage

    Professional Requirements

    • HR certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM or HRCI) or any relevant certificate.

    Experience Requirements

    • 10-12 years’ experience, of which at least 6 years are in middle management role within/leading the Talent Management/OD/Resourcing function.
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing effective recruitment strategies, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
    • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering comprehensive talent development programs, such as leadership development, technical skills training, and soft skills workshops.
    • Prior experience managing talent in large, complex organizations with multiple business units.

    • Expertise in HR information systems (HRIS) and talent management software.
    • Strong project management skills to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
