Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an Assistant Manager in our Strategy unit (Energy Consulting). The successful candidate will play a key role in leading teams, leading projects, assisting clients in developing and implementing effective strategies and improving operational efficiency to win in their markets.
This position assists the Engagement Manager in delivery of services to / at client premises on delegated engagement / project. Hypothesis development - This would include implementing generation, transmission, and distribution utility performance solutions, policy development, problem solving, analytical capability, financial modelling, storyboarding, and report writing.
Key Performance Areas
Strategy Development and Implementation:
- Collaborate with the consulting team to develop tailored strategies to address clients' business challenges and drive growth.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify industry trends, competitor dynamics, and market opportunities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with clients' goals and objectives.
Operational Efficiency Improvement:
- Analyze clients' business processes and operations to identify areas for improvement and cost optimization.
- Develop and implement operational improvement plans, including process redesign, resource optimization, and performance measurement.
- Support clients in implementing change management initiatives to drive operational efficiency and enhance business performance.
Data Analysis and Insights:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to generate insights and recommendations for clients.
- Utilize analytical tools and techniques to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for operational improvements.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings and actionable recommendations to clients.
Project Management:
- Take a lead role in managing consulting projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive project milestones and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor on strategy and business operations matters.
- Understand clients' business objectives, challenges, and industry dynamics to provide tailored solutions and recommendations.
- Actively engage with clients to identify new business opportunities and contribute to business development efforts.
Strategic Impact
- Support the Senior Manager on delivery of designated engagements / projects.
- Manage the implementation of the agreed deliverables.
- Maintain quality and timeous delivery as per service-level agreement (SLA).
Qualifications
- Minimum of second class upper in bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 8+ years proven experience in power, utility, and renewable consulting, preferably in a similar role.
- 6+ years' working with electricity generation, transmission and distribution utilities clients or experience working within the electricity generation, transmission and distribution utility industry.
- Experience implementing distribution utility performance solutions including loss reduction and revenue protection.
- Knowledge in ESG, sustainability and climate change.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to clients and internal teams.
- Proficient in any data analysis and visualization tools, such as Excel, R, PowerBi etc.
