Key Responsibilities

Database Management and Backups:

• Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies.
• Ensure database security by implementing and managing access controls.
• Monitor database performance and optimise SQL queries.
• Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as indexing, updates, and patches.

Performance Tuning:

• Analyse and resolve database performance issues.
• Identify and implement improvements to database performance and scalability.
• Conduct regular performance tuning of SQL queries and database objects.

Data Integrity and Security:

• Ensure data integrity and consistency across database systems.
• Implement security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide support to development teams for database-related issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and service requests.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Generate regular reports on database performance, usage, and issues.

Requirements

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience as an SQL DBA or in a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server and other relational databases.
• Experience with database backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security management.
• SAP BASIS experience will be an advantage

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization.
• Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS).
• Knowledge of scripting languages for automation.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to database management.

Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory):

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• MySQL Database Administrator Certified Professional
