Job Description

Under minimum supervision, drive, and support Compliance, Financial Crime & Commercial functions by attending to Compliance, objectives, requirements, and reporting obligations & Commercial Contracting as well as other Commercial initiatives as and when required and Financial Crime obligations as applicable to the West Africa region. Preparation, administration, and execution of applicable Member Firm Standards & ISO27001 requirements.

  • Demonstrate, apply expert knowledge, as applicable to West Africa, when contributing to Deloitte Africa Policies & Processes (Compliance, Legal Contracting, Financial Crime) to ensure alignment with the overall application of applicable Deloitte Africa Firm-Wide Policies & Procedures
  • Annual Independence Declarations (provide required inputs and assist to facilitate East Africa sign off)
  • Internal Audit Reviews (provide required input and assisting/support with the Internal Audit Review process in terms of relevant evidence and processes as applicable) including applying core ISO27001 requirements
  • Member Firm Standards Privacy, Confidentiality, Legal & Financial Crime: Understanding the changing and evolving requirements and support implementing continuous agreed controls to achieve desired outcome and rating
  • Compile and review Legislative and Financial Crime Risk Assessments with expertise to apply and report on the legislative landscape as applicable to West Africa and attend to required and agreed mitigations. Compile reports as required to demonstrate effectiveness.
  • Ability to interpret legislative requirements effectively and to apply to West Africa operations (provide guidance to Service Lines, both internally and on client engagements). Report to management as required
  • Identify risks and recommend practical solutions
  • Review and assess NOCLAR Consultations and provide required inputs to finalise NOCLAR Consultations as per the Deloitte Africa NOCLAR Policy
  • Attend to specific Commercial contracting queries. Advise and guide on standard terms and conditions and escalate when required
  • Provide legal advice to Service Lines
  • Research and draft of internal Legal Opinions
  • Draft bespoke contracts (in alignment with the Deloitte Africa Contracting Playbook), evaluating the Services in scope and ensuring mitigation of contractual risks. Understanding of different types of contracting templates (Client (various types of services), Employment (various) and Third Party (i.e., vendors))
  • Engage with clients on contractual matters and support service lines with contractual agreements
  • Findings per BRMS – evaluate escalated matters relating to Confidentiality & Privacy and obtain management input when required
  • E-learning (participate in developing content for required new e-learnings, enhancement of existing e-learnings, tracking of completions and escalations as applicable). Prepare statistics for collation by Senior Compliance Consultant for combined Reporting by Compliance Centre
  • Establish and maintain strong internal business relationships within area of expertise. Collaborate, understand, and share best practices
  • Advise and support Service Lines in identification and implementation of innovative solutions to issues arising within area of expertise, including collaborating on AI solutions as per the Deloitte Africa AI Framework
  • Follow the Privacy Impact Assessment and VCRA (Vendor Cyber Risk Assessment) process (by collaborating with Stakeholders (ATS) and escalate/ obtain input when required. Retain and submit Reports to Senior Compliance Consultant for combined reporting by Compliance Centre
  • Managing Information Loss Incidents with relevant stakeholders in terms of the Disciplinary Framework, incl. overall management and oversight of East/ West Africa Panel meetings for Deloitte Asset losses and damages. Prepare statistics and reports for submission to Senior Compliance Consultant for combined reporting by the Compliance Centre.
  • Attend and execute on Information Protection requirements, incl. notification to applicable Regulators on Information / Privacy investigations as per prescribed Deloitte Africa Process. Prepare statistics and report to Senior Compliance Consultant for combined reporting by Compliance Centre.
  • In depth knowledge of Deloitte Internal Contracting Systems: Vault; Deloitte Compliance Risk Management System: RADAR; DCIPP (Deloitte Confidential Information Protection Platform); Symantec; Securonix; ServiceNow & DocuSign
  • Good MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint Skills
  • Knowledgeable in field with in-depth functional and business knowledge, able to identify matters to be escalated
  • Experienced in successful oversight and execution of complex projects
  • Recognised as a skilled presenter
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Robust internal Service Line delivery focus, including practical support in terms of Client Engagements and Client interaction

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Qualification

  • National Diploma / Equivalent in area of specialisation
  • 3 years’ experience within the function.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Equivalent Legal Degree & Minimum ISO27001 certification.
  • 5 years’ experience, covering all areas within the function.
