Africa Talent by Deloitte (Africa Talent) is a standalone division of Deloitte, owned by Deloitte Africa and Deloitte Netherlands, based in South Africa. Our goal is to meet the growing demand for Talent in Africa and Europe; by recruiting and developing Talent throughout Sub Saharan Africa in order to service the diverse needs to enable projects at our clients. We have entered a period that will see businesses transform like never before. The Finance function sits at the center of this change, playing a key role which is seeing the demands of the CFO and their team increase. In response, Deloitte UK have established a CFO Advisory business at Deloitte which delivers innovative, bespoke solutions to CFOs in some of the world’s leading businesses, developing sustained relationships as a trusted adviser supporting and advising on their management responsibilities.

The accounting team is a critical and integrated part of our CFO Advisory business – leading relationships and supporting our clients in the application and consideration of accounting, under both IFRS and/or US GAAP, as they address a wide range of disruptive events – including M&A, regulatory change and technology transformation.

Africa Talent has an exciting opportunity to join our team and be a core part of the Deloitte UK AECI team in advising and shaping the leading Finance teams of the future.

The AECI works across multiple industries (including Consumer, TMT and Public Sector) and with both private and listed businesses. Successful candidates will be provided with great opportunities to work on transactions, particularly with private equity, team members work closely with other M&A teams across Deloitte. 

We are looking for candidates with a strong accounting and finance background who can demonstrate a mix of accounting expertise, operational finance, project management, and client relationship experience and skills.

Job Description

Responsibilities will include:

  • Being a core member of a team to deliver outstanding service to clients across a variety of accounting advisory projects, including transaction accounting, GAAP conversions, accounting assist and with our operational finance teams.
  • Supporting client management on the implementation and application of accounting standards and accounting.
  • Working as part of a team underneath Managers and Senior Manager to achieve the best results for all our clients

Qualifications

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • Chartered Accountant is required – who wants to go into Audit technical advice and finance advice
  • A passion for delivering high quality complex projects including effective planning, project, financial and people management
  • Proven ability to work effectively in teams
  • Excellent networking and influencing skills
  • Experience of working in an audit or finance advisory capacity is preferable however for the right candidate, experience of working as a finance business partner or in a line role will be considered
  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA/ SAICA qualified or equivalent
  • A relevant degree, or 4-5 years experience
  • The ability to travel to client sites as required by this position and within government guidelines
  • The ability to present client data in a clear and concise format
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
