About the program
Deloitte Tanzania’s Consulting practice is recruiting nine (9) qualified candidates for the District Nutrition Governance Officer position for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Regional Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Activity, Lishe Mtambuka in Tanzania. The activity aims to strengthen the health, water and market-based food and sanitation systems that promote the adoption of optimal nutrition-related behaviors across a range of stakeholders in targeted regions; Iringa, Njombe, Songwe, Rukwa, and Kigoma. Deloitte Tanzania will be responsible for improving nutrition governance by increasing the capacity of councils to utilize data, plan, budget, and deliver quality nutrition services.
The positions are contingent upon project award, funding availability and approval.

Main purpose of the job
The District Nutrition Governance Officers will work closely with LGAs on a regular basis. This includes participating in planning cycles and budgeting sessions regarding local nutrition interventions and facilitating coordination between Multi-sectoral Nutritional Steering Committees.
This position reports technically to the Regional Nutrition Governance Coordinator and administratively to the Regional Program Manager (RPM).
Job Description
- Ensure regular follow-up with the multi-sectoral nutrition committees at council and ward levels to strengthen and sustain multi-sectoral coordination for nutrition;
- Provide technical assistance in the budgeting, planning, implementation, and monitoring of the National Multi-sectoral Nutritional Action Plan (NMNAP) II at district and ward levels, including procurement of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive commodities;
- Collaborate with DMOs, DPLOs, DEDs to design a monitoring approach for budget implementation and proper allocation of nutrition interventions in PLANREP;
- Conduct mentorship and coaching on the Multi-Sectoral Nutritional Information System (MNIS) to District Nutritional Officers (DNuOs) and District Health Officers (DHOs);
- Review nutrition workforce requirements and advocate for gaps to be reflected in Comprehensive Council Health Plans (CCHPs) and vacancies to be filled;
- Support PO-RALG to conduct onsite mentorship and coaching to track implementation of planned nutrition interventions;
- Facilitate quarterly nutrition multi-sectoral scorecard meetings and conduct bottleneck analysis to evaluate community nutrition status and track indicators;
- Provide technical assistance to implement the Tanzania Resource Mobilization Strategy (RMS) and increase per capital expenditure for nutrition;
- Conduct private sector mapping and increase private sector engagement and participation for nutrition within the councils;
- Provide monthly updates and contribute to the development of lessons learned, quarterly reports and assessments, abstracts and research;
- Follow-up on the use of gender transformative approaches across all interventions;
- Perform any other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related, relevant field;
- A minimum of one year of experience working on the implementation and coordination of community initiatives preferably in nutrition interventions;
- Experience working with a range of government, civil society counterparts, donors, and multilateral partners;
- Previous participation in local government, NGOs in local events and initiatives;
- Experience in data collection and analysis;
- Good writing and communication skills in English and Kiswahili;
- Excellent knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook;
- Knowledge of Tanzania’s supply chain, nutrition services, and healthcare services is preferable;
- Knowledge of the regions of the intervention.
