Job Description

 

An exciting opportunity exists to become part of the Central Independence team. We are looking for a detail-focused individual with strong multi-tasking skills and who wants to be part of a dynamic team. This position will provide a great opportunity to play a vital role in enabling Deloitte to serve its clients whilst protecting our reputation and brand.

This role will be responsible for providing critical support to the firm through the monitoring and maintenance of the Global Independence Monitoring System (GIMS) which assists the individual practitioners to comply with the firm’s independence requirements:

  • Personal Independence monitoring though the Deloitte Global Independence Monitoring system (GIMS).
  • Monitoring GIMS system alerts and performance of various GIMS validation procedures.
  • Monitoring new investment products requested through GIMS and assessing the products in terms of the regulatory policies to ensure permissibility. 
  • Preparing quality feedback and reports with supporting schedules / documents.
  • Identification of areas where additional learning/interventions might be required related to personal independence.
  • Roll out relevant learning on developments related to personal independence.
  • Managing and review of procedures performed by junior staff.
  • Assist with GIMS communication and campaigns.
  • Ad-hoc tasks associated with the function.
  • Assist with reporting and trend analysis on a regular basis.
  • Assist with providing evidence of procedures in relation to ISQM requirements for the function.
  • Maintenance of Member Firm Accounts and Partner Special Arrangement Relationships.

Qualifications

Relevant business-related tertiary qualification:

  • A compliance, risk, audit, or independence background
  • Professional service delivery
  • Understanding of a regulatory environment and ability to interpret and apply technical rules in a practical way.

Minimum Experience

  • 4 years working experience
  • Knowledge of the applicable regulatory bodies (IFAC/SEC/PCAOB etc.) applicable to the audit environment.
  • Knowledge of independence aspects affecting the audit environment would be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of investment vehicles and investment products would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of relevant Deloitte Policy Manuals on Independence would be an advantage (if you are a Deloitte internal candidate)
  • Hands-on independence experience and a good understanding of independence in a professional services environment and the application of Independence management methodologies would be an advantage.

Desired Experience

  • 4 years’ work experience within similar function
  • Display a general level of understanding Deloitte Policy Manual 1420 on Independence, especially relating to Financial Interest and the Global Independence Monitoring System (GIMS) / IESBA Code of Ethics with respect to Financial Interests.
  • Good understanding of ISIN numbers, Listing Symbols, Collective Investment Funds, Asset Managers, Subsidiaries, Associates, Securities Accounts, Bonds, Structures Products, Notes, Exchange Traded Funds, Pension products etc. and Corporate Group Structures.2
