Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

An exciting opportunity exists to become part of the Central Independence team. We are looking for a detail-focused individual with strong multi-tasking skills and who wants to be part of a dynamic team. This position will provide a great opportunity to play a vital role in enabling Deloitte to serve its clients whilst protecting our reputation and brand.

This role will be responsible for providing critical support to the firm through the monitoring and assistance of Global Independence Monitoring System (GIMS) accounts, ensuring that the GIMS service centre functions are being performed accurately and effectively, which assists professional staff to track investment portfolios, to ensure compliance with the firm’s independence requirements:

  • Timeliness and accuracy of performing GIMS Reviews.
  • Accuracy of and timeliness of updating information for GIMS users and immediate family members.
  • Accuracy and completeness of uploading user added holdings and subsequently uploading supporting documentation.
  • Provide assistance to GIMS users timeously and accurately.
  • Where possible breaches are identified - timeously escalation to appropriate team.
  • Assistance with action items on a user’s dashboard and provide accurate and timeous assistance.
  • Timeously follow-up and escalation for individuals who did not make deadlines.
  • Accurate and timeous enrolments of users to GIMS

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7)

Minimum Experience

  • One to Two years' work experience
  • Basic understanding of independence aspects affecting the audit environment.
  • General knowledge of the applicable regulatory bodies (IFAC/SEC/PCAOB etc.)
  • General knowledge / understanding of ISIN numbers, Listing Symbols, Collective Investment Funds, Asset Managers, Subsidiaries, Associates, Securities Accounts, Bonds, Structures Products, Notes, Exchange Traded Funds etc. and Corporate Group Structures.
  • Knowledge of relevant Deloitte Policy Manuals on Independence would be an advantage, (if you are a Deloitte internal candidate).

Desired Experience

  • 2 years’ work experience within similar function
  • Display a general level of understanding Deloitte Policy Manual 1420 on Independence, especially relating to Financial Interest and the Global Independence Monitoring System (GIMS) / IESBA Code of Ethics with respect to Financial Interests.
