Main Purpose of Job

An exciting opportunity exists to become part of the Central Independence team. We are looking for a detail-focused individual with strong multi-tasking skills and who wants to be part of a dynamic team. This position will provide a great opportunity to play a vital role in enabling Deloitte to serve its clients whilst protecting our reputation and brand.

This role will be responsible for providing critical support to the firm through the monitoring and maintenance of the Deloitte Entity Search and Compliance System (DESC) which assists the firm with our systems of quality control to monitor audit client’s and its affiliates (related entities) and ensures compliance with the firm’s independence requirements:

  • Update and maintenance of Group Structures on DESC for Audit Clients and its affiliates, including Relationship Entities and Watchlist Entities
  • Rolling out and managing rolling verification projects and or other projects required by Global Independence, on quarterly and bi-annual basis.
  • Performance of materiality calculations in line with the IESBA Code of Ethics (DPM 1420 – Deloitte Policy).
  • Accurate and timeous processing of DESC Batches on the DESC system
  • Monitoring of Entities for Member Firm Loans, including verification procedures as required per Global Independence.
  • Monitoring of Mailbox and addressing queries in time, relation to the function.
  • Liaising with other functions within Independence & Risk and Audit & Assurance that links with the DESC procedures.
  • Perform quality controls on current DESC Entities from time to time
  • Assist with various monitoring activities in relation to changes of responsible parties, identifying potential new clients through Phoenix (client relationship management system), and merger and acquisition flags.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7)

Minimum Experience

  • One to Two years' work experience
  • Basic understanding of independence aspects affecting the audit environment.
  • General knowledge of the applicable regulatory bodies (IFAC/SEC/PCAOB etc.)
  • General knowledge / understanding of ISIN numbers, Listing Symbols, Collective Investment Funds, Asset Managers, Subsidiaries, Associates, and Corporate Group Structures.
  • Knowledge of relevant Deloitte Policy Manuals on Independence would be an advantage, (if you are a Deloitte internal candidate).
