Job Description

Deloitte Africa is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Private Clients Leader with a growth focused background that could include organic and/or inorganic growth to support existing and develop new clients for the Deloitte Private practice. The professional required will need to exhibit strong entrepreneurial traits, as well as an understanding of the shifts and trends in the way companies create value.

The ideal person will thrive working in an integrated, inter-disciplinary team made up of tax, legal, corporate finance, consulting, etc., skill sets across the broader Deloitte business. Although an industry-agnostic role, exposure to family enterprises, private equity and small-medium enterprise ecosystems will be preferred. This leader will also need the gravitas and track record to be trusted in the market whilst also having the commercial savvy to negotiate alternate fee arrangements as and when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grow Deloitte’s Africa Private business. Find and create business opportunities across multiple entities within developed and emerging client organisations. Foster a culture of entrepreneurship. Develop and codify intellectual capital and points of view and, create distinctive knowledge initiatives that result in significant client impact and strengthen Deloitte’s external reputation.

Develop client relationships. Pursue and cultivate strong and sustainable trusted advisor relationships with C-Suite, family offices, business unit and division head levels for the most critical clients in order to drive client value. Lead, develop and engage the Deloitte Private resources for the client to identify and drive value, collaborate with industry and client account leadership to drive the Deloitte Private point of view, ensure delivery expectations are met and resolve open issues related to Deloitte Tax and Legal sales and delivery, and bring the best Deloitte resources to the client.

Create and implement innovative solutions. Identify the business and technology related issues that family offices, founders and executives are, and should be, concerned with and mobilise efforts to address these issues and frame alternative approaches to resolution. Understand current and future client needs in the context of market dynamics and apply insights to recommend short and/or long-term value creation for the client at the Founder, C-Suite, business unit and division head levels which has the appropriate level of impact. Ensure the quality of the work to be truly distinctive in its focus on client impact and tangible results.

Account management. For Deloitte’s clients, lead, develop and engage the Deloitte Private team to identify and drive value. Collaborate with client account leadership to drive the strategic point of view, gain agreement upfront on pricing, ensure delivery expectations are met and resolve open issues related to Deloitte Private business development and delivery.

Develop and engage Deloitte’s people and practice. Inspire people to develop a deep understanding of the client industry, family office operations, issues and strategic alternatives, and create a distinctive brand experience clients associate with Deloitte. Act as a people and client leader, developing leaders (senior Deloitte Private executives), peers (other functional and industry managing directors), clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

  •  University graduate degree, with post-graduate qualifications preferred

Experience

Family Office/ Enterprise Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of intricate involvement in the strategy, set up and running of family offices/ enterprises across Africa and beyond. Extensive networks in the space with a credible track record of excellence in engagement and adding value in navigating various markets across Africa.

Management Consulting Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of top-tier management consulting or other professional services experience and roles, including functional practice management, with experience in financial services (banking, asset management, insurance, etc.) being ideal but not essential.

Business Development experience

  • Over five years of business development experience and a track record working at senior level is critical, ideally focused on growth strategy solutions-based practice growth.
