About the Job
An exciting opportunity exists for a legal and risk professional to become part of the Financial Advisory Quality and Risk Management team, based in Midrand, Johannesburg. We are looking for an individual who is both solution and process focused and has strong multi-tasking skills. This position will provide a great opportunity to play a vital role in enabling Deloitte Financial Advisory to serve its clients across the African continent whilst managing risk and protecting our reputation and brand.
Key Performance Areas
The QRM team is multi-dimensional with a number of focus areas including risk process and integration, risk management, quality management, process compliance, as well as an element of legal and contracting.
Legal Risk Management:
Support Deloitte’s Financial Advisory practice by providing internal legal advice, reviewing and drafting of contracts.
Assist with the development, maintenance and roll out of Financial Advisory contracting templates
The focus of this aspect of the role will be on commercial legal support with an emphasis on contractual support and contract management.
Ensure compliance with the Firm’s contracting policies and processes.
Quality and Risk Management (QRM):
Work closely with the Business to identify and assess business risks throughout the engagement lifecycle (including legal, financial and reputational risks) and provide sound commercially-minded guidance on potential risk mitigations.
Ensure that the Financial Advisory business complies with all applicable regulations and Deloitte Global and Africa Member Firm policies and practices. Monitor adherence to policies and processes by conducting Internal Practice Reviews and managing non-compliance incidents.
Drive ad hoc risk & quality management initiatives in the business including on-going risk training. Implement risk processes and projects as required in terms of Member Firm Standards including Enterprise Risk Framework, Portfolio Risk Review, Global reviews etc.
Prepare risk management reports for Service Line, Member Firm and Global teams - including recommendations on proactive management decisions to prevent risk events.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience Required
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree
Desired Qualifications: preferred Law or Commerce, LLB and/or admitted attorney
Minimum Experience: 2-5 years’ working experience in a legal, risk and/or professional services environment
Desired Experience: at least 3 years post qualification experience as an in-house legal advisor, preferably at a professional services firm, or at a law firm. Experience and/or exposure to financial advisory, M&A transactions, Corporate Finance, Consulting firm experience

Experience in commercial law & contracting
Experience in contract management
Technical expert in specific functional area
Demonstrated capability in interacting at all levels, briefing, analysis and project management skills
Experience in report drafting and delivering presentations
Good report writing skills
Sound financial knowledge and understanding
