About the Department

The Risk Advisory Function integrates powerful and practical solutions in cyber security, IT Audit, risk and regulation and internal controls, backed by deep business knowledge across multi-disciplinary teams, to help our clients take the opportunity to connect, build resilience and security for a more positive outcome.

Deloitte East Africa currently has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our Risk Advisory Department as an Internal Controls & Assurance (IC&A) Manager. This position will be based in our Addis Ababa office in Ethiopia.

Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job

The incumbent will ensure that assignments are carried out to the highest standards to provide outstanding value to clients and the Firm; making an impact that matters; and setting the direction to deliver exceptional client service.

What you will do

  • Focus on the management and delivery of governance, risk, internal controls, and internal audit-related client engagements as well as sales and practice development;
  • Develop high-performing people and teams;
  • Lead and support the teams to make an impact that matters and setting the direction to deliver exceptional client service;
  • Deliver multiple engagements on time and within budget;
  • Provide guidance and mentor junior team members on their personal growth and career progression;
  • Combine industry knowledge and domain experience to help client identify, assess, and manage technology and data risk; and
  • Increase efficiency and effectiveness of engagements through knowledge of auditing techniques and by identifying and leveraging additional Deloitte service offerings as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • At least six (6) years’ relevant working experience in governance, risk, internal controls, and internal audit.   
  • Two (2) years’ work experience in a client facing role in a professional services firm is an added advantage.
  • Experience in managing teams.
  • A recognized professional qualification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or a risk management qualification.
  • Proficient in report writing, presentation and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Experience in managing and improving engagement effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Strong leadership skills both on engagements and in an office environment.

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of risk assessments, governance, internal audit, internal controls, and compliance reviews.
  • Expert in field with sound industry and business knowledge.
  • Proven ability to manage and execute projects.
  • Experience in drafting and presenting client proposals.
  • Strong client management and people skills.

  • Sound business acumen.
