About the Division:

Deloitte’s Actuarial & Insurance Solutions (AIS) practice is South Africa’s preeminent actuarial advisory practice, with a deep reach and expertise across the insurance and financial services industries. We are the largest actuarial consultancy in Africa with more than 150 actuarial staff and more than 50 qualified actuaries. Our AIS practice provides comprehensive actuarial, risk management, and advanced analytics services for Life and Non-Life insurers and reinsurers, regulators, automotive players, retirement fund providers and other related organisations.

Within AIS, the Extended Delivery Team (EDT) provides consulting services to the Deloitte UK Actuarial practice. The team provides a wide range of services to a variety of UK and multinational insurers.

    Job Description

    Main Purpose of Job

    We are looking for Actuarial Analysts (with at least 2 years of experience) to Senior Actuarial Analysts with Life Insurance experience to join the EDT.

    The roles provide, an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of technical issues by delivering on a wide variety of projects within the EDT. These include but are not limited to:

    • Reserving, and capital modelling
    • IFRS 17, Solvency II and other regulatory projects
    • Large scale projects to transform insurer’s financial, actuarial, and reporting processes
    • Actuarial specialist work on external audits of a wide range of insurers
    • Due Diligence and support for a variety of insurer Corporate Transactions
    • Model validation work

      Qualifications

      Minimum Qualifications      

      • An actuarial science degree with a preference for candidates that have completed an Honours degree.
      • Partly qualified actuaries showing good progress through the actuarial exams.

       Minimum Experience           

      • Minimum of 2 years working experience  
      • Working experience in the Life Insurance actuarial domain is preferred
      • Actuarial valuation experience
      • Experience of capital and solvency calculations, reserving and reinsurance will be advantageous
      • Experience in IFRS17 will be an advantage
