Main Purpose of the job

Ensure the successful delivery of USAID Africa projects and the demonstration of tangible project results. Ensure that implementation is aligned to the projects’ strategic vision, objectives, and key result areas, is within the approved budget, and delivered with minimal risks.

Job Description

  • Serve as an SME/ Advisor in establishing and managing results management offices (RMOs) for USAID Africa projects. Ensure the RMO is aligned to the four RMO domains –strategic vision, technical expertise, operational excellence, and organizational alignment;
  • Ensure that the implementation of USAID Africa projects is aligned to the projects’ strategic vision, objectives, and key result areas;
  • Monitor the performance of USAID Africa projects on a quarterly basis and provide recommendations for improvement;
  • Liaise with and build the capacity of the project RMO directors/ managers on the tactical implementation of technical activities and demonstration of results in the key result areas;
  • Lead the roll out and implementation of the PMO playbook that will streamline processes and enhance delivery excellence for Africa projects;
  • Coordinate spot checks to confirm implementation of the projects’ risk frameworks, risk registers and compliance;
  • Coordinate spot checks to verify that the projects follow acceptable quality standards and processes;
  • Leverage data analytics for decision making;
  • Follow up on project governance matters including the occurrence of project executive and strategic meetings and engagement with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, government bodies and CSOs;
  • Establish a centralized platform for sharing best practices and lessons learned across projects;
  • Work with the project RMO directors/ managers to ensure the timely execution of the annual performance reviews; and
  • Liaise with the project RMO directors/ managers to identify training and development needs. Establish a learning agenda and coordinate training/ capacity building.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • 7 – 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years managerial experience
  • Demonstrated experience implementing donor funded projects, preferably within a project management/ results management office capacity
