Our areas of expertise include advising on:

·Close, Consolidate and Report improvement initiatives, including process, policy, automation and digitisation of the month-end financial close

· Internal Controls over Financial Reporting as required by JSE Listing Rule 3.84k, including digital enablement

·Integrated Reporting and report refresh initiatives to help our clients report value driven by their ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) activities, including climate change

·End to End accounting and reporting implications of proposed or planned transactions (such as mergers, acquisitions, integrations, separations and restructuring), including post-merger / separation planning for day 1 readiness of the finance function

·Advice relating to changes in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or other regulatory requirements, including digital enablement and change adoption

·Finance function operational support at month end, year-end, or ‘on call’ accounting services

Accounting Operations Advisory (AOA)

We advise finance functions to increase their efficiency and effectiveness from the beginning to the end of the finance reporting cycle. We leverage Assurance’s deep expertise in accounting in order to build confidence in the value, accuracy, timeliness and reliability of the Controllership function.

Accounting Operations Advisory (AOA) services recognize that leaders need a partner they can work collaboratively with to evaluate their people, processes, infrastructure & controls, and to deliver practical and pragmatic solutions to address increasing demands, existing inefficiencies, and impacts of new technologies, while ensuring Finance remains honest to its core activities.

Accounting and Reporting Advisory (ARA)

Regulatory, technological, and business complexities are driving finance and accounting teams to re-evaluate their accounting policies, processes, controls, and systems.

Sound decision making is reliant on balanced and stakeholder focused corporate reporting.

The complex accounting and reporting decisions organisations make can have a profound impact on how they are evaluated by stakeholders and the overall financial stability of the organisation.    

Our Accounting and Reporting Advisory services focus on delivering holistic solutions. These include:

•Provision of end-to-end implementation solutions; 

•Remediation solutions;

Disruptive Events Advisory (DEA)

Finance today often struggles to meet competing priorities. Not only does management demand Finance to provide quicker and better analytical insights to support decision-making, but new accounting standards, rapid changes to business model and M&A activities also place significant pressure on Finance to adapt fast.

To enable our clients in establishing world-class finance functions, we adopt a cross-disciplinary approach to provide insight on how to better design finance organizations, processes, data and systems with leading practices and digital technology, as well as facilitate our clients in managing capital market transactions, such as getting ready for IPO, carving out business units for spin-off, integrating finance functions after a merger, etc.

Job Description

  • Understanding of the audit and advisory businesses, and their interaction with wider firm locally and globally, strategy and challenges
  • Notable experience on providing Strategic Insights to Partners
  • Project management experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to interpret, communicate and implement strategy
  • Demonstrated execution of complex projects within timeframes and cost
  • Experienced in development and delivery of professional presentations
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Solid financial knowledge

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • 8 -10 years’ experience as a leader in a complex finance function, external audit and/or accounting policy function
  • Qualifications in an Accounting/Finance Degree, with a CA qualification or equivalent
  • Strong technical financial reporting and accounting skills
  • Experience leading and mentoring a professional team
  • Strong people skills - ability to establish and maintain great working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Able to project manage complex projects
  • An interest in growing the Assurance Services team and history in business development.
