Deloitte’s Actuarial & Insurance Solutions (AIS) practice is South Africa’s preeminent actuarial advisory practice, with a deep reach and expertise across the insurance and financial services industries. We are the largest actuarial consultancy in Africa with more than 140 actuarial staff and more than 50 qualified actuaries. Our AIS practice provides comprehensive actuarial, risk management, and advanced analytics services for Life and Non-Life insurers and reinsurers, regulators, automotive players, retirement fund providers and other related organisations.

Job Description

This role will support the Strategic Project Manager (SPM) in the effective delivery of client projects aimed at creating exceptional client service. The role is the central point for delivering project management activities:

  • Manage complex project related activities, programmes, procedures and protocols- Drive the successful initiation, planning, scheduling, execution, monitoring and closure of respective projects.
  • Perform the PMO administrator role by coordinating activities, tasks, timeframes, scope and deadlines- Prepare well-articulated, accurate and timely reporting for respective stakeholder audiences.
  • Manage client- and stakeholder expectations and deliverables.
  • Escalate material issues and risks to the SPM and respective Actuarial Manager.
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement through PMO process engineering and change management

Additional responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic team and client impact through the operational effectiveness of:
  • Project Management Office (PMO) framework and standards.
  • Project task management.
  • Project administration.
  • Project reporting and governance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree.
  • Desired qualification: Bachelor's degree with Project Management qualification or equivalent.

Minimum experience:

  • 8-10 year's working experience, with 3-5 years' experience in relevant role.
  • Advanced proficiency on MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio.

Desired experience:

  • Meeting the minimum requirements with working experience within the Financial Services or Insurance Industry, with exposure to Actuarial and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) projects.

Technical competencies:

  • Strong business acumen with good understanding of insurance industry and consultancy business model.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the Project Management Office (PMO) strategic and operational goals.
  • Good working knowledge of different project management methodologies and tools- Demonstrated delivery of complex projects within timeframes and cost.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and competing demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, professional delivery of presentations and reports.
  • Experience in effective risk, issues and dependencies management.
