Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

  • Provide strategic and operations support on Special Projects within the Finance Function required to be executed in order to achieve the Finance purpose statement which is establishing a world class finance function that supports the strategic objectives of Deloitte Africa and in support of the office of the Deloitte Africa COO:
  • Delivers strategic Finance and firmwide projects in the office of the CFO and COO as required driving Africa Strategy
  • KPC detailing projects to be set annually

Differentiators for this specific role

Provide project support in the office of the CFO in order to achieve the Strategy of the Finance function and support in the office of the COO in order to execute Africa firm-wide initiatives which encompasses the following key areas:

Financial Governance:

  • Establish a centralised finance function
  • Provide guidance on significant financial decisions and establish standard policies and procedures to determine local firm authority limits.

Business intelligence and partnering:

  • Drive benchmarking and target setting to enhance business performance.
  • Partner with the business to deliver insights, analytical, acquisition, investment and tax support.

Quality financial reporting:

  • Enhance the quality of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Execute periodic operational reviews, financial conditions assessment and internal audits across the Africa practices.

Compliance:

  • Ensure regulatory compliance excluding Tax regulations

Capital adequacy:

  • Maintain appropriate levels of capital adequacy by ensuring adequate banking facilities and working capital management.

Operational efficiency:

  • Streamline operating processes and support cost sharing by establishing end-to-end integrated processes

Talent:

  • Develop and retain appropriately skilled people and develop capacity, including cross skilling, to enable execution of the Africa strategy.

  • Client = Internal Service Line or Service area for which the Finance Service Line Manager is responsible for
  • Interrogates, clearly understands and communicates to team the agreed strategic objectives of both Finance and that of the Client
  • Manages the implementation of the strategic imperatives in line with Finance and Client strategy relating to:

→ Implementation of change initiatives

→ Management of the implementation of plan on a day-to-day basis with team

→ Monitoring skills level in team relating to required outputs, assisting as necessary

→ Clear and regular communication with superiors and team on implementation status

  • Supports Finance leadership in carrying out EXCO mandate
  • Builds professional relationships within client to understand business needs in area/s of responsibility
  • Generates and implements innovative ideas and solutions within finance and client in collaboration with team members to enhance / renew service offerings

Budgets / Profitability

  • Provides input into annual budget to superior for drafting of budget for Finance
  • Manages expenditure within team and ensures time and expenses are submitted weekly

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • CA (SA)

Minimum Experience

  • 8 years in finance
  • 3 years’ experience in a management role
