About the Program

Deloitte Tanzania has been awarded a contract to implement the USAID Afya Yangu Southern Program. This is a five year project (November 9, 2021 to September 30, 2026) funded by the American People through USAID aiming at supporting the Government of Tanzania’s (GOT) Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGEC) and the President’s Office- Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG) at the central level and in target Mainland regions to deliver high quality integrated HIV and TB prevention, care and treatment services that will improve health outcomes, particularly for youth and children. The program intends to increase the demand for and use of quality integrated HIV and Tuberculosis services in Iringa, Lindi, Morogoro, Mtwara, Njombe, and Ruvuma regions by improving access to quality services in both facilities and the surrounding communities, promoting positive health seeking behaviors among Tanzania’s population, and enhancing the overall policy environment for HIV & TB service delivery.

Deloitte Tanzania has exciting opportunities for six (6) suitably qualified individuals to join our USAID Afya Yangu Southern Program as Grants & Finance Interns.

Main purpose of the job

Support COVID-19 activities together with other program set-up activities and perform initial payment reviews and processing.

Job Description

  • Initial review of payment claims from the regions in relation to Grants under Contract (GUC) activities and ensure they are properly supported based on activities performed and in line with Payment Guidelines;
  • Prepare bank files for payment processing;
  • Ensure payment trackers are completed and submitted within agreed timelines;
  • Address concerns in relation to pending payments;
  • Initial review of bank statements for GUC payments which have not cleared and follow up with respective regions for reprocessing;
  • Provide input for weekly update sessions on regional payment status;
  • Maintain proper documents filing and arrangement in archive for easy tracking; and
  • Performing any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field;
  • Knowledge of computer applications including MS Excel and MS Word;
  • Good communication skills; and
  • Attentiveness to details.
