About the Department
Deloitte’s Tax and Legal professionals provide both compliance and advisory services across a broad range of matters affecting businesses. This approach ensures clients’ most demanding challenges when operating in multiple jurisdictions are holistically addressed in a coordinated way, by subject matter and industry specialists, locally and abroad. Deloitte deploys the right team at the right time to address the needs of its clients, wherever they operate.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic person to join our Tax Team as a Technology Manager in the Tax & Legal service line. This position will be based in our Nairobi office in Kenya.
Job Description
Main purpose of the job
The holder of this position will be responsible for assisting clients and the various business units within the Tax & Legal Department in identifying opportunities for tax transformation as well as challenges that could be resolved through the use of technology. In this role, you will work closely with and collaborate with the team to understand data and information requirements as well as key processes in tax and develop systems that create efficiencies in the delivery of Tax assignments
What you will do
- Lead, facilitate, and participate in department and business units’ technology strategic initiatives;
- Work with clients to define scope, objectives and roadmaps for technology and design projects within the Tax environment;
- Generate innovative solutions on engagements in collaboration with Tax team members to enhance/renew service offerings to clients;
- Develop, design and implement tax compliance tools for the department and clients, where applicable;
- Evaluate clients’ tax and business requirements to build optimal tax designs, leveraging on technology;
- Develop/ maintain good working relationships with key client and internal stakeholders and keep them informed of challenges/ risks/ issues with technical solutions being implemented;
- Continually research current and emerging technologies and propose changes;
- Be in charge and the custodian of all the technological tools and templates in use by the business units within the Tax & Legal Department;
- Assist the business units in identifying the global tax technological tools, lead implementation/deployment of such tools and customizing/domesticating these tools for proper use by the business unit;
- Manage assignment budgets, control costs and report on exceptions;
- Actively participate in business development activities aimed at growing the business tax portfolio and revenues;
- Train and coach (classroom and on-job) other staff in the department on the various tax technological tools; and
- Execute other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Software Engineering or relevant field.
- At least 6 years in systems development. Tax knowledge is desired but not a requirement.
- Experience in DevOps is an added advantage.
- Proficient in report writing, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership skills both on engagements and in an office environment.
