About Africa Talent

Africa Talent by Deloitte is a new joint venture between Deloitte Africa and Deloitte Netherlands to meet the growing demand for Talent with critical skills within the Risk Advisory capability area. While based in Africa, our Talent throughout Africa can gain experience on a multitude of global clients across diverse industries. Practitioners will have the full experience Deloitte experience of learning & development, access to leading best practice and a curated wellbeing experience (amongst others); all while getting both local and international exposure working in a remote hybrid model from their home country across the African continent

What impact will you make?

Market Risk and ALM practitioners help banks and other financial institutions in keeping the risks associated with the various market risk components of their balance sheet under control, as well as make sure that risks arising from different assets and liabilities on the balance sheet are well managed. 

 In this context, potential losses can arise from changes in market risk factors such as interest and FX rates, but also changes in client behavior. Using our deep understanding of these risk types, we support clients with determining the required capital to remain solvable in crises and provide our insight into potential mitigating measures for these risks. 

 For example, by use of financial derivatives. Therefore, Market Risk and ALM practitioners perform their work in strict contact with regulation, in a continuously transforming environment, characterized by the advent of new digital and data driven-decisions. 

Job Description

A Consultant at Deloitte Market Risk and ALM has an impact on the global financial service industry by servicing key clients and working in projects which positively change the financial service industry. Besides working on assignments, consultants also support in preparing proposals and will contribute to research and writing articles. Joining the Market Risk and ALM team to deliver extraordinary performance, and impressing your clients with knowledge and expertise at Deloitte.   

How you will make an Impact

  • Build and communicate a strategic and innovative vision on the financial services industry; 
  • Able to connect and advise on the various types of market risk a financial institution is exposed to, such as interest rate risk, currency risk and liquidity risk, as well as other key aspects of financial institutions; 
  • Apply your skills in quantitative modelling or data analytics; 
  • Effectively translate technical results into impact for senior stakeholders; 
  • Build and maintain a strong network in the financial service industry and peers in quantitative modelling

For the role of Consultant in the Market Risk and ALM team, you also have:  

  • a degree in: Econometrics, Mathematics, Economics, (Quantitative) Finance, Actuarial Science or a science Master; 
  • ambitious, independent, energetic and able to perform under pressure; 
  • affinity with the financial and corporate sector; 
  • excellent analytical skills; affinity with quantitative modelling, and/or programming; 
  • a team player; 
  • good communicative skills; 
  • proficient in English, both verbally and in writing.
