About the Department

 The value that Deloitte Risk Advisory Africa creates for organisations is synonymous with operational excellence. We maximize the performance of our clients’ internal business operations by identifying, predicting, resolving and mitigation imminent threats through our five key risk areas- Strategic and reptation risk, regulatory risk, Financial risk, Operational risk and Cyber risk. Job Description

Main purpose of the job

The incumbent will support the Associate Director in delivery of services to/at client premises on delegated engagement/project to promote our leadership capabilities which are living our purpose, influence, performance drive, strategic direction and talent development. 

The role will provide an opportunity to help tackle complex business problems faced by Organizations through exposure in the following areas:

·       Accounting and Internal Controls;

·       Regulatory & Compliance Services;

·       Information Technology Assurance;

·       Cyber & Strategic Risk; and

·       Data Analytics.

The role provides exposure to working with diverse teams and clients; supports the leadership team with marketing and sourcing for new clients; scheduling jobs/ assignments and leading client planning meetings, allocation of tasks to team members, first level review of work papers, ensuring timely delivery of client reports, billing and collections.

This is also an opportunity to sharpen the candidate’s leadership, analytical and business skills while working as part of the Risk Advisory team, which is committed to helping clients build trust, resilience and security, shaping responsible businesses that can sustain and grow in an increasingly unpredictable environment.

As a Manager, the staff member will be required to:

·       Perform the core tasks associated with each of the above services and lead/ supervise diverse teams in their execution.

·       Research on innovation and trends related to the business, industry and economy and use acquired information to enhance service offerings.

·       Contribute to the regional and business area winning business strategy and targets.

·       Manage own work against project plans to ensure a superior client experience; and

·       Support the identification of prospective business development opportunities. 

What you will do

 ·       Track outputs against Service Level Agreement and report to Senior Manager on any unforeseen issues arising;

·       Seek to identify additional sales opportunities in client business;

·       Assist in the preparation of proposals/tenders and presentations on request;

·       Is a support resource in planning of sales presentations and client negotiation teams for new and retained business;

·       Develop market network in business and build relationships that generate leads;

·       Build relationships across Deloitte service lines to understand broader offerings and seek opportunities for cross-selling;

·       Generate innovative solutions on projects/engagements in collaboration with team members to enhance/renew service offerings to client;

·       Monitors that time and expenses on engagement are accurately recorded and submitted weekly;

·       Manage WIP on engagement and ensure billings are timeously done and collections followed up;

·       Leverage a strong understanding of client’s industry, regulatory requirements, strategy and objectives to prioritize risk events to be monitored and define risk assessment plans;

·       Guide teams through the development and implementation of risk assessment processes, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative techniques (e.g., benchmarking, probabilistic and non-probabilistic methods) that lead to a comprehensive view of risk areas;

·       Review risk assessments results and challenge team to identify hidden patterns and effectively prioritize mitigation plans;

·       Lead teams through the development of mitigation plans that are action-oriented, efficient, and aligned with the client’s risk tolerance and risk appetite levels;

·       Advise client’s leadership on leading practices for risk assessment governance to enable effective oversight and optimal execution;

·       Apply a solid knowledge of business process design frameworks and leading practices to assess the client’s organization;

·       Uncover operational inefficiencies and non-compliance situations in business processes and propose designs that align to a client’s business objectives and leading industry practice;

·       Advise client on innovative, automated, and data-driven approaches to design and implement business processes;

·       Work with client’s leaders to define scope, objectives (e.g., operations, reporting and compliance), and roadmaps for internal control assessment and design projects;

·       Identify and recommend innovative, automated, and analytics driven approaches to assess and design controls;

·       Display a strong acumen of leading standards and regulations and coach team members on the appropriate use and application;

·       Challenge team members to critically analyze control deficiencies and provide guidance to develop impactful and sustainable mitigation plans;

·       Draw insights from data to develop solid recommendations that enable robust and targeted solutions;

·       Coach and mentor junior staff on effective techniques and behaviours to understand, interpret, and leverage business analysis;

·       Enables standardized, accurate, and efficient operational and risk reporting by leveraging risk management technology platforms and their broad capabilities;

·       Specialize in and build an internal expert brand within a Risk Analytics service offering (e.g., Regulatory and Compliance, Assurance, Strategic Risk) while maintaining a minimum level of expertise across many areas; and

·       Apply strong sector knowledge to enhance alignment between analytically-enabled solutions and key client needs. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience 

 ·       At least a second-class upper bachelor’s degree;

·       Five (5) or more years of experience in Information Technology (IT) systems controls review, IT project implementation, Internal Audit, Risk Management or related fields;

·       A postgraduate qualification or attaining studies to such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is an added advantage;

·       Proficiency in computer applications (Excel, Word, Power Point etc.);

·       Willingness to travel (within Uganda and across the East Africa region); and

·       Be a Ugandan citizen or eligible to work in Uganda.

·       Internal Controls Assessment and Design - Ability to advise client on solving control design issues based on industry leading practices and regulatory requirements.

·       Build Industry – based Domain Expertise - Ability to leverage domain expertise and industry knowledge to deliver tailored analytics solutions.
