Job Description

Main Purpose of Job
Provides Finance intelligence to the Service Area Management Team supporting the value chain. Focuses on strategic issues relating to Finance that contribute to growth and competitiveness of the business.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plays the role of credible advisor and negotiator interpreting Service Area context to align the agendas of the business with Finance.
  • Assists with the planning, organizing and managing of the Service Line Project Services and General Accounting function.
  • Aligns, implements and embeds COE and SSC driven initiatives and technologies at the Service Area level and in support of the Senior Finance Manager for the Service Line.
  • Consolidates P&L finances for the Service Area.
  • Gives advice and recommendations to the Service Area management on request or on own initiative pertaining to Service Area finances.
  • Responsible for Service Area finances and works together with the COE and SSC teams to ensure smooth finance operations for the Service Area.

Strategic analyses and driving target achievement for the Service Area

  • Conducts financial analysis and insights

  • Interrogates working capital and revenue before and after EM rollover
  • Analyses North Star performance and drive business closer to these targets

Assisting with the transactional oversight, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in leading the Project Services and General Accounting team (resources dedicated to the service line) to ensure accurate processing and reporting 
  • Assisting in building and managing a high performing Project Services and General Accounting team by providing leadership, role clarity, training and career development
  • Assisting in developing an effective Project Services and General Accounting framework, including appropriate policies, processes and procedures; oversee the enforcement in order to establish practice that ensures accountable management of resources
  • Identifies and mitigates risks to protect Deloitte from potential losses relating to incorrect capturing to the general ledger
  • Identifies methods to update, simplify and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the end-to-end client experience through technology and/or process solutions relating to Project Services and General Accounting
  • Assist with monitoring performance against objectives to ensure that teams’ KPIs are achieved
  • Assists in leading the achievement of SLAs and monitoring SLA compliance relating to Project Services and General Accounting
  • Leads in maintaining, amending and communication of general ledger policies and procedures
  • Monitors performance against objectives to ensure that the Project Services and General Accounting teams’ KPIs are achieved

Approvals, Reviews and Requests & Controls

  • Reviews and approves journals (including manual journals to project codes)
  • Reviews the pricing of contracts and projects
  • Reviews payroll for the Service Areas
  • Approves credit notes
  • Approves purchase requests/orders
  • Approves general journals to Service Area cost centers
  • Reviews and approves payroll report
  • Requests accruals and provisions to be raised
  • Requests new or updates to cost/profit centers and chart of accounts
  • Reviews project spend monthly
  • Implements internal controls where applicable
  • Drives financial disciplines in project accounting
  • Reviews revenue monthly

Debtors

  • Reviews debtors monthly
  • Assists with escalated debt collection

  • Involvement in Finance Projects driven from the SSC/COE

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Minimum Qualifications: CA (SA)
    • Minimum Experience: 8 years in finance
    • More than 3 years’ experience in a management role 
    • Desired Qualifications: CA (SA) at one of the big four
