Deloitte East Africa provides seamless cross-border services to multinationals, large national enterprises, small and medium sized enterprises and the public sector, across three (3) countries of the region: Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. Deloitte Tanzania has an opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to join our Internal Client Services- Finance department as a Project Services Accountant in our Dar es Salaam office.

About the Department

Deloitte East Africa has a well versed Internal Client Services unit positioned to deliver outstanding value and services needed to achieve Deloitte's vision. It enables client facing staff to work more efficiently and effectively. 

The Finance department provides management information and accounting services to client facing staff. The team provides the financial information and analysis required to support the business’s decision-making process. In addition, they are closely involved in the preparation of forecasts and financial plans and work with the departments to ensure client receivables are managed effectively and our cash and billings targets are met.

Main Purpose of Job 

To provide end-to-end support for engagement projects, to guide departmental teams in the preparation of billing schedules and the selection of appropriate contracts in accordance with revenue recognition requirements, to enforce compliance with governance requirements, to assist teams in the generation of system reports, to train teams in project service procedures, and to assist in the management of Accounts Receivables.

 

Job Description

  • Assist Business in collating the required information (such as the project plan, billing schedule and resourcing) to open a project;
  • Ensure that the correct contract type is selected in order for the correct revenue recognition methodology to be followed;
  • Review forecast revenue based on project plan, in line with firm policy;
  • Effect any required adjustments based on instruction from Business, to the monthly forecast to ensure accurate revenue recognition;
  • Provide assistance and system training to project leaders on SAP activities relating to WIP and revenue reviews, rebates, provisions and revenue recognition reconciliations;
  • Enforce compliance of project governance requirements and closing of codes for completed projects;
  • Support regional teams to obtain supporting documentation from service lines during quarterly WIP audits and support service lines in bi-annual forecasting;
  • Circulate bi-monthly revenue numbers to service lines and provide business insights on various revenue KPIs;
  • Follow up with managers to provide allocation details of bank receipts and clearing of unallocated receipts;
  • Ensure withholding tax certificates are properly processed in SAP;
  • Fiscalization of invoices in line with TRA requirements;
  • Respond to queries from service lines relating to debtors in a timely manner;
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting from a recognized institution;
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in Accounting/Finance;
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA);
  • Experience with SAP ERP;
  • Advanced computer usage skills in MS Office packages; 
  • Good verbal communication skills;
  • Good report writing skills;
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Good problem solving skills;
  • Be a Tanzanian citizen.
