About the Division

Job Description

Main Purpose of Job:

To manage the team/s within sphere of responsibility in the effective delivery of services to the business

The Enterprise Architect serves as a technical resource to develop and maintain high level business solutions, architectures, standards, policies and guidelines, migration plans (as is and to be), write business cases in terms of technology products and solutions. Must play a role in GIS IT strategies in terms of solutions, products and be a technical advisor to GIS and business.

Solutions Planning

  • Responsible and accountable for high level planning and documentation (as is and to be architectures) that includes new, optimisations, changes, decommission plans, and roadmaps,
  • Responsible and accountable to provide GIS Operations, GIS Business analysts and GIS project staff with information when planning, managing or implementing business solutions, upgrades or changes,
  • Responsible and accountable for long term strategies related to architectures that are aligned with the firm’s strategies and goals.
  • Responsible for architecture related IT audits
  • Responsible for liaising with Deloitte Global office and vendors on new technology deployments for standards and topology/architecture guidelines,
  • Developing of architectures for the Enterprise within a framework with governance.

Complexity:

  • This role is complex as it covers all the areas of Enterprise Architecture to ensure that the solution is implemented successfully
  • Architecture knowledge of a wide spectrum of hardware, software, business applications and ERP systems
  • In-depth architecture knowledge and the ability to deploy enterprise architecture within a business
  • Developing Roadmaps aligned with Firm and Global guidelines
  • Security principle knowledge
  • Knowledge of both the backend system and user front-end

  • Interrogates, clearly understands and communicates to team the agreed strategic objectives of both own Service Area and that of the client Service Line/s
  • Manages the implementation of the strategic imperatives in line with service area strategy relating to:

→ Implementation of change initiatives within designated area/s

→ Management of the implementation of plan on a day-to-day basis with team

→ Monitoring skills level in team relating to required outputs, assisting as necessary

→ Clear and regular communication with superior and team on implementation status

  • Supports own Service Line leadership in carrying out EXCO mandate

Client Impact: External / Internal

  • Manages quality and timeliness of day-to-day deliverables of team in area of expertise to client
  • Provides client management with sound professional advice and support across broad area of issues arising within area of expertise

Operational Effectiveness

  • Manages day-to-day operations and delivery by team to clients
  • Guides and directs daily work of team members giving recognition as well as support as needed

Development/Growth of Team

  • Recruits, mentors and guides team members and shares expertise and knowledge with counselees on an ongoing basis
  • Identifies areas of development for team and institute plans to address these
  • Develops strong working relationships with key talent in team to ensure retention

Budgets / Profitability

  • Provides input into annual budget to superior for drafting of budget for Service Area
  • Manages expenditure within team and ensures time and expenses are submitted weekly

Research and Development

  • Conduct research on new CLOUD products and initiatives which will be of financial benefit to the business
  • Research & develop improved methods of ensuring services to the firm

Vendor management

  • Manages the CLOUD vendors
  • Meets with account manager to ensure the services received is the most current and utilised optimally
  • Managing of agreements proactively to benefit business

Develop architectures, standards and Roadmaps

  • Through IT CLOUD strategy, architectures, tactical plans, policies, standards and procedures deliverables, meet business objectives and strategies.
  • Ensure all CLOUD solutions are aligned to Business Objectives and strategies. Solutions development (Business cases and relevant deliverables).
  • Develop new or update CLOUD technology roadmap that is aligned to Deloitte global CTO’s plans.
  • Guidance to GIS staff i.t.o CLOUD Products, architectures and standards, policies and guidelines.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Honours Degree

Desired Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification (relevant to Service Area / Business Management, etc.)

Minimum Experience

  • 7 years’ working experience within the relevant function

Desired Experience

  • 2 years at Senior Consultant level within the function
