Main purpose of the job
A Junior Consultant, operating as an Audit-in-charge (AIC) in support to the Audit team, in delivery of services to / at client premises on delegated Audit engagements.
Key Performance areas
Strategic Impact:
- Under guidance, completes and supervises over a variety of tasks that impact delivery of the broader team, towards the achievement of a client audit, and in relation to the overall strategy of the service line.
- Conducts research for the engagement as required and provides meaningful review and output.
- Identifies possible opportunities for follow-on work and advises management thereof.
- Assists in preparation of client documentation as required.
Client Impact - Internal/ External :
- Contributes to decisions and findings in the engagement team by providing fact based and pertinent recommendations from auditing / research / analysis and client interaction.
- Communicates regularly with Engagement Manager and team members on status of allocated deliverables.
- Develops and sustains productive working relationships with client staff.
- Informs Engagement Manager of any possible emerging engagement change issues.
- Responds with urgency and accountability to client and team requests.
- Produces timeous and accurate work in support of the broader team’s delivery.
Operational Effectiveness:
- Understands the context and impact of own and team member’s roles within the audit engagement and supervises and conducts work accordingly.
- Consistently reviews and analyses work sections, with a focus on quality, accuracy and timelines of own and team deliverables prior to submission for review by Manager
- Awareness of risk in area of engagement in alignment with Deloitte policies and the related client / industry / professional regulations and legislation.
- Maintains clear communication channels with engagement manager and team members on work status effecting outputs.
Development/ Growth of Team:
- Shares expertise and knowledge with team members and counselees on an ongoing basis
- Develops good working relationships with key talent in team to optimise performance and support growth, development, retention.
- Supports inconsistent, poor performance through firm’s processes
- Monitors resource requirements for engagement and communicates to Engagement Partner the need for increase / decrease in team headcount
- Maintains own development and knowledge in specialised area
Budgets/ Profitability:
- Submits billing, expense claims and timesheets accurately and timeously
- Liaise with the engagement manager in compiling a budget for the audit and communicate and manage this with the audit team through the engagement.
- Provide consistent communication and detail regarding potential overruns on the audit to your manager.

Qualifications
Qualifications & experience required
Minimum Qualifications
- Certificate of Theory in Accounting (CTA) – Post-Graduate Qualification, with an Accredited BCom Degree;
- Initial Test of Competence (ITC),
- Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)
- SAICA Qualifying Exams, as prerequisites for registration as a CA(SA)

Minimum Experience
- Completed three years training contract / articles, in a SAICA accredited training office.

- Achievement of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year competencies per SAICA prescribed professional and technical competencies
