Main Purpose of Job
To manage the team/s within sphere of responsibility in the effective delivery of services to the business. 

Qualifications & Experience
Required

CA (SA) or B.Com Accounting or equivalent.
Knowledge of the applicable regulatory bodies (IFAC/SEC/PCAOB etc.) applicable to the audit environment would be an advantage.
Knowledge of relevant companies act requirements affecting audit environment (Section 90(2)).
Knowledge of risk and independence aspects affecting the audit environment would be an advantage.
Knowledge of relevant Deloitte Policy Manuals on Independence would be an advantage (if you are a Deloitte internal candidate).
Hands-on independence experience and a good understanding of independence in a professional services environment and the application of independence methodologies would be an advantage.
Quality management experience in a professional services environment.
Quality control monitoring experience in a professional audit services environment.
Project management experience - previous work experience in any of the following areas would be useful:

  • Business requirement specifications

  • System development

  • End-user testing

High computer literacy, with solid working experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Experience in the Microsoft Client Relationship Management (CRM) System would be an advantage.
Managing teams.

Responsibilities may include any of the following functions or a combination:

Managing a team of Risk Analysts in applicable functions.

Global Independence Monitoring

  • Personal Independence monitoring though the Deloitte Global Independence Monitoring system (GIMS).

Personal Independence Inspection & Testing

  • Responsibility for conducting Independence Inspections on Leadership / Management employees within the firm.

  • Preparing quality feedback and reports with supporting schedules / documents.

Independence Declarations

  • Update, monitor and review of independence declarations.

  • Effective and efficient planning of annual independence process and adequately coordinating the roll out process firm wide and deliver good quality reports and timeously reporting

Consultations

  • Conducting Independence consultations based on regulatory requirements i.e. IESBA, Companies Act., Deloitte Policy Manuals etc.

Employee Training & Learning

  • Update, develop and conduct independence learning for staff and new direct entry partners/directors and presentations to relevant parties and to ensure that learning programs are rolled out to partners/managers and staff.

Other:

  • Provide daily support, direction and supervision to the team of Risk Analysts/Assistant Managers.

  • Monthly reporting of relevant area, the team and their performance.

  • Conducting appraisals and KPC’s of junior professional staff periodically.

  • Policy drafting, reviewing and maintenance.

  • Undertaking various projects, ad-hoc projects & responsibilities as dictated by the DOI/Deputy DOI/Take-On and Conflicts Leader.
