About the Division

What does Risk Advisory offer clients?
We offer clients an end-to-end solution for all their risk management needs. In line with our vision to deliver a “OneDeloitte” to clients, we have changed our business model to deliver holistic solutions to our clients in areas where we have significant depth and breadth of expertise.

About the Analytic Insights Team

The analytical insights team forms part of Deloitte Analytics and is a unique collection of data scientists and data engineers from different backgrounds that use advanced data modelling, Machine Learning, visualisation, rapid prototyping techniques and software development skills to beneficiate new value embedded in customers’ existing data.

By utilising a combination of tools, processes and frameworks, we are able to combine diverse sources of structured and unstructured data into a data-comb that exposes hidden relationships and linkages required to answer critical business and strategic questions that our customers have.
 

About the Job

The job will expect you to:

• Deliver on both client and strategic internal engagements.
• Provide expertise on specific predictive modelling techniques and/or software solutions.
• Understand the fundamentals of Machine Learning (supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning) and other advanced techniques.
• Design overall predictive modelling/Machine Learning project approach from data sourcing to deployment including data architecture that will be required to execute project.
• Perform sophisticated model development analyses.
• Write programs to import data into various technology tools.
• Write programs to scrub, manipulate, and analyse data.
• Must be able to track down exceptions and analyse why the exceptions should be reported.
• Report on all findings from analytical programs written in various technology tools
• Understand how to translate technical complexities and solutions into business insights in order to create value for our clients.
• Understand the fundamentals of software development lifecycle and how to make it practical when developing advanced Machine Learning solutions.
• Travel locally and internationally.

About You

We are looking for someone with one or more of the following qualifications:

• B.Com IT / Informatics
• BSc Big Data
• BSc Data Science
• Bachelor of Business Science
• B.Com Accounting & Economics
• BSc Statistics
• BSc Financial Mathematics
• BSc IT / Computer Science
• Engineering disciplines across the board
• Industrial Engineering (Operation Research)
• Other Bachelor’s degree with an analytical mind set

You would need to have the following Experience and Technical Competencies:

• 4-6 years relevant experience in a consulting environment
• Deliver on client engagements
• Experience in solving routine and complex business problems
• A client network will be a distinct advantage
• In-depth knowledge of Data Analytics and Data Science
• Some experience in managing teams
• Have a good understanding of relational databases
• Be able to analyse relationships between data
• Experience in working on multiple projects
• Programming languages: Python, R, JavaScript
• Frameworks and libraries: Tensorflow, PyTorch, Kafka, Spark, D3, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Cloud Technologies: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, MS Azure
• Experience in model building using different technologies (R, Python, etc.)
• Be proficient in Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
• Should be able to understand the fundamentals of programming 
• Should be able to understand the fundamentals of Machine Learning, the techniques and building blocks
