Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

To support the GES Senior Manager in providing professional and robust tax advice on all local and international tax matters and more specifically individuals/expatriates. Focus on the management and delivery of client engagements, as well as sales and practice development. Develop high-performing people and teams, leading and supporting them to make and impact that matters, and setting the direction to deliver exceptional client service

 

Qualifications & Experience required

 

Required

Relevant Degree or B Com with H Dip Tax qualification

5 - 8 years working experience

 

Preferred

Postgraduate qualification in Taxation (honours)

5 years in a similar environment

 

Specialized Technical Capabilities

·         Global Employer Services Technology

o    Analyses client technologies in relation to how they enable clients to meet their goals and recommends enhancements

o    Identifies technology product/service synergies and recommends integrated product/service(s) that address client needs

o    Researches technology and gleans client feedback to inform brainstorming and development of future technology

o    Leverages technology expertise to client relationships to define project scope and engage resources

o    Serves as a technology subject matter expert, reviewing training content and sometimes delivering training

o    Examines global mobility programs to assess whether they achieve individual tax and social tax compliance and payroll reporting requirements, minimize potential for tax authority reviews, and manage both the individual and corporate tax and compliance risks inherent in global deployment

o    Understands all aspects of compensation packages, benefits, payroll, compensation data, compilation and reporting

o    Understands all aspects of compensation package, benefits, payroll, compensation data compilation and reporting

o    Understands the various approaches to global mobility operational structure and service delivery

o    Understands the end-to-end mobility compensation and payroll process from calculation of the balance sheet to the initiation of home and host payroll, to pay/no-pay and shadow pay instructions, to validation of required gross ups to payroll reconciliation

o    Understands mobility compensation collection process and reviews data provided to identify gaps as well as understands the impact of compensation on home and host country tax returns and shares data effectively to ensure consistent reporting

o    Understands inbound and outbound global mobility taxation issues

o    Understands pension and social tax rules

o    Uses understanding of tax equalization policies, and their impact on employees on international assignments

Qualifications

Skills Required

·         Experience in local and global coordination of mobility and expatriate PAYE payroll services

·         In-depth understanding of expatriate PAYE payroll operations and management in South Africa

·         Working knowledge of expatriate PAYE payroll operations and management in Anglophone countries in Southern, East and West Africa

·         Experience or working knowledge of expatriate PAYE payroll software

·         Experience with developing, embedding and maintaining expatriate PAYE processes across multiple jurisdictions

·         Experience in identifying and delivering expatriate payroll advisory services e.g. expatriate PAYE reviews, technology platform selection, expatriate PAYE process and technology implementation including understanding annual equity awards and treatment thereof

·         Experience in project management (internal and external processes)

·         Experience in people management (internal and external stakeholders)

·         Experience in financial management

·         Working experience of excel macros and VBA coding

·         Knowledge and / or experience of sales & marketing in the Global Mobility space
