We are looking for a Senior Director/VP, Software Engineering - Vendor Growth ((all genders) to lead the Vendor Growth team whose mission it is to empower our restaurants and shops to be successful. This includes multiple products (mobile apps, webapps, point-of-sale integrations, and the physical devices in kitchens) which enable our vendors to process orders and grow their business.  The position will be based in our incredible Hero Hub in the heart of Berlin and will be reporting to the SVP Engineering of Vendor. 

As the Senior Director/VP of Software Engineering you will be leading 120 engineers  managing Senior Managers/Directors and partnering closely with product leadership to provide business critical services.

Your Mission:

• Lead, support and mentor Senior Engineering Managers & Directors to be more effective leaders.

• Deeply understand the business processes and participate in defining the roadmap for core Delivery Hero teams responsible for enabling checkout and order placement for multiple verticals.

• Plan and ensure scalability, fault tolerance and reliability of the systems you own and simplify them.

• Ensure the highest bar of quality and fairness in the the team’s performance management

• Drive both quarterly and long-term objectives and key results with full responsibility for executing the OKRs.

• Drive the tribe’s long term strategy (3+ years) together with your product counterpart

• Champion best engineering practices, be a pragmatic voice showing where to invest engineering effort where it can best move the needle.

• Experience working with complex distributed systems

• Experience managing Senior Engineering Managers and multiple teams.

• Responsibility for a high complexity and high traffic project or application

• Experience adapting to different engineering cultures to drive pragmatic solutions.

• An interest in promoting  continuous deployment, agile planning, cloud-based systems, experimentation and testing. 

• Passion for shaping the engineering culture of a growing team.
