We're looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to join our growing engineering team to lead all things DevOps including to develop CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code for containerised applications and serverless microservices running on Azure Cloud.

This role will primarily support our Offer to Own product, but will also support the wider IT operations and web squads. You'll be the DevOps SME, consulting to multiple business and tech stakeholders!

Job Description

Our Lead DevOps Engineer will need to be a great collaborator, engaging in Agile software development activities including team sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, working with the cross-functional squad to ensure that all requirements are fully understood and that delivered work will meet the desired business outcomes.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • developing Terraform scripts for cloud infrastructure provisioning
  • developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for PHP, Node & Serverless applications
  • management and configuration of Kubernetes Cluster (AKS) and Container Registry
  • establishing best practices, improvement development standards, develop security & release management policies and documentation
  • implementing GitOps practices to support trunk-based development
  • test automation: provisioning databases, resources & configuration for running Cypress & unit tests
  • develop dashboard metrics and alerting policies to provide uptime reporting and timely outage notification
  • ensure data integrity and security in accordance with the organisational policies
  • contribute to continuous improvement in development standards and practices, quality and release management.

Your Skills and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will be a true team player who communicates with confidence and humility. You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • working knowledge of Azure or AWS Cloud with a clear understanding of software application development stacks including PHP & Node, SQL databases such as MySQL or Postgres, and Bash / PowerShell / JavaScript / YAML scripting
  • experience writing Infrastructure-as-Code scripts using Terraform
  • creating CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or Bitbucket Pipelines
  • using container orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes & Helm
  • being comfortable working in a small, cross-functional development team using Agile delivery & GitOps practices
  • have the ability to write high-quality and well-documented code, adhering to best practices at all times.
  • experience in serverless & platform-as-a-service with Azure or AWS Cloud.
