Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Associate Director, Accounts Payable to lead and evolve the AP function while remaining deeply involved in day-to-day operations. This role combines leadership, process optimization, and high-volume transaction execution to ensure accurate, timely, and scalable payment operations across a global organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end Accounts Payable operations, including high-volume invoice processing, vendor payments, and issue resolution
  • Review, code, and validate invoices against purchase orders, contracts, and approval workflows
  • Execute payment runs (ACH, wire, check, credit card) and ensure compliance with payment terms
  • Support month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Drive process improvements and automation across procure-to-pay (P2P) workflows to enhance efficiency and scalability
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to cycle time, invoice aging, and operational performance
  • Ensure strong internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit readiness, while mitigating fraud risk
  • Lead and mentor AP and T&E team members, serving as an escalation point for complex issues
  • Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Procurement, FP&A, IT, and Legal to improve processes and outcomes

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 10+ years of progressive AP experience, including high-volume processing
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Strong expertise in procure-to-pay workflows, invoice matching, and payment execution
  • Experience driving process improvements while remaining hands-on in operations
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, AP automation tools, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Knowledge of global AP processes, including European VAT requirements
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment with competing priorities

Preferred

  • Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries
  • Background in a public company environment with SOX compliance
  • Familiarity with systems such as Oracle Fusion and SAP Concur

Additional Information

Deciphera is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary pay range for this role is $136,100 - $187,000. Actual compensation packages will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to depth of experience, education, skillset, overall performance and/or location.​
