Job Description
As an employee of DeAngelo Contracting Services, you will be expected to demonstrate strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, excellent ethics, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a high level of mechanical aptitude. In addition, you will be responsible for using your skills and expertise to uphold our company’s values, while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced Traveling/Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic. This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment under the guidance of the Shop Manager. You will be responsible for conducting mechanical repairs, maintaining vehicles and equipment, completing inspections, and performing preventative maintenance by addressing vehicle deficiencies, keeping accurate repair records, and maintaining shop safety standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prioritize and address urgent projects as needed.
- Perform repairs as directed.
- Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition, identifying worn or damaged parts.
- Maintain equipment readiness by following preventive maintenance schedules, upgrading components and parts, and managing corrosion control.
- Assist in the fabrication of new equipment or builds as needed.
- Address vehicle deficiencies by repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as powertrains, electrical systems, air conditioning, fuel, emissions, brakes, steering, hydraulics, and more.
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls, and ensuring systems are functioning properly.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine performance, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Conduct field visits in the event of an emergency or breakdown.
- Maintain shop equipment by following operational guidelines, troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating repairs when necessary.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, place orders, and verify receipt.
- Stay updated on industry knowledge by participating in training opportunities and reviewing technical and regulatory publications.
- Contribute to the maintenance department’s success by taking ownership of new and additional responsibilities and seeking ways to add value to your work.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A technical training course in Mechanics is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with at least 5 years of clean driving history. (Pre-employment MVR background check will be performed.)
- Class A CDL preferred.
- Ability to travel as needed up to 4 weeks at a time.
- 3+ years of mechanical experience (diesel and gasoline) engine repair.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience working with small hand tools, as well as chainsaws, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working on mowers, skid steers and attachments, tractors, and other heavy equipment.
- Understanding of blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical manuals.

- Pay rate: $28-35/ hour
