SugarWOD is a social fitness platform that empowers coaches and fitness content providers to deliver world-class workout programming to athletes all over the world.

The SugarWOD team at Daxko is looking for a senior full-stack engineer passionate about powering health and wellness through the world by contributing to several applications that help gym owners manage their memberships, allow their customers to track workouts, and provide world-class tools to grow our customers’ businesses.

In this role, you will work on our large scale NodeJS application that powers our leading workout tracking mobile apps. This application feeds data via APIs while also providing a web-based hub for gym owners and program suppliers to create content and engage with their members. You’ll create cutting edge APIs, help to fine tune application performance and guide the technical direction of the application.

As a Senior Software Engineer, along with solving complex engineering problems, you will help to mentor other engineers, provide architectural input, and lead technical discussions. In addition to daily coding responsibilities, you will collaborate with product managers, architects, and other software engineers to build and deliver best-in-class software using agile development processes. Your communication skills are honed to be able to recognize opportunities and present solutions to challenges to adjacent non-technical teams. You’re self-motivated, collaborative and open to new ideas.

You will also:

• Develop high quality front- and back- end application code that provides a delightful user experience and meets business expectations
• Develop clean, resuable, well-structured and maintainable code following best practices and industry standards
• Take ownership of the platform by defining design patterns, identifying frameworks, managing technical debt, and defining best practices
• Provide technical expertise and guidance both within and without the SugarWOD product team
• Write automated unit, integration, and acceptance tests as appropriate to support our continuous integration pipelines
• Support and troubleshoot data and/or system issues as needed
• Actively contribute actionable and valuable feedback in code reviews
• Participate in system architecture and design reviews
• Participate in user story creation in collaboration with the team
• Work with team members to develop prototypes as necessary and validate ideas with a data driven approach
• Be an active participant in all Agile team events

• Demonstrable knowledge of client-server architecture and system design
• Familiarity with designing systems for scale
• Proficiency with JavaScript, Typescript, Node, Express (or equivalent back-end technologies)
• Proficiency with database design and interactions
• Ability to clearly communicate technical information to a variety of stakeholders including product owners, UX engineers, QA engineers and other engineers within and without the team
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
• Ability to mentor and help develop team members

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in related field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Applied Mathematics, or Applied Sciences
• Five (5+) years of Software Engineering or other relevant experience
• Proficient in application development in modern object-oriented programming languages
• Proficient in building and integrating with web services and RESTful APIs
• Proficient in SQL or other relational data storage technologies
• Experience in automated testing practices including unit testing, integration testing, and/or performance testing
• Experience using code versioning tools such as Git
• Experience with Agile development methodology
• Understanding of modern cloud architecture and tools

The targeted salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
