Job Description

At Daxko, our product design team consists of UX generalists who lead the full spectrum of user research, interaction design, visual design, and usability testing.  Your primary responsibility as an Associate UX Designer will be to work with the team to help craft user experiences that set our products apart from the competition by truly understanding our customer’s needs and delivering valuable solutions to market problems.

As an Associate UX Designer, you will help shape the vision for groundbreaking applications that affect millions of people in their daily health and fitness routines.

The Associate UX Designer reports to the Director of UX.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of how to collaborate with product managers, technical leads, customers, and other stakeholders to understand, define, and clarify requirements.
  • Understanding of how a designer earns buy-in for ideas, designs, and best practices, and how to motivate and inspire stakeholders.
  • Learn research methods such as participatory design, ethnographic studies, and user interviews to learn how users think and behave. Use that research to help drive your innovative concepts forward.
  • Basic understanding of the concept of a persona and how to leverage it to help your team make better decisions.
  • Capable of producing basic low fidelity mockups of concepts using tools like Freehand or Balsamiq
  • Capable of producing basic high-fidelity designs using tools such as Invision, Sketch, Figma or Adobe XD.
  • Basic understanding of Design Thinking and continuous discovery
  • Basic understanding of how to validate a design satisfies user needs, and methods used to do so, such as unmoderated testing, moderated testing, and A/B testing.
  • Co-facilitate workshops to identify/understand user needs
  • Maintain a basic understanding of pertinent data and analytics that inform product design
  • Learn lean UX best practices to apply to your UX responsibilities
  • Be a tireless advocate for exceptional user experience
  • Apply preestablished design patterns to your designs
  • Less than 10% travel required based on research needs

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Detail oriented, manages time and objectives effectively
  • Excellent communicator in person, on the phone, in email
  • Loves testing out new approaches, knows how to measure the impact and adjust
  • A positive attitude and a passion for working with strong, collaborative teams. 
  • Not afraid of conflict – able to check your ego at the door for the benefit of the product and team
  • Flexible - change and uncertainty don’t faze you
  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies - Scrum and Kanban in particular
  • Demonstrated ability to work with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand, analyze, and document requirements
  • Ability to use wireframing tools to prototype new functionality
  • Basic visual design skills
  • Basic interaction design skills

Required Education and Experience:

  • Basic design skills and an eye for good design
  • Zero to one (0-1) years of relevant experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • One (1+) years of relevant experience
  • Some experience designing business-oriented web or mobile applications
  • Knowledge and practical experience with Lean UX methods and tools
  • Enterprise software design experience a plus
  • Prior experience working with an Agile Product Owner a plus
  • Experience working with remote teams a plus
