Responsibilities

  • Solve challenging software engineering problems with expertise in either front-end, back-end, or full-stack
  • Deliver world-class software based on modern React application and microservices architectures
  • Become a member of a truly self-organizing Agile team, participating in all activities from ideation to delivery
  • Be ready to supply bottom-up innovation to the Product team on “what’s possible”
  • Create software designs, code, and test automations that keep simplicity at the forefront
  • Participate in team/peer reviews regarding architecture, designs, and code to drive engineering practices and consistency
  • Deliver as a team, verifying that completed user stories meet business expectations and are backed by automated regression tests
  • Embrace collaboration as a “no ego” team member
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of ZP’s development processes, architecture, and tools
  • Work closely with Test Engineering and DevOps on continuous delivery progression
  • Provide support on troubleshooting production systems when issues are escalated with a commitment to excellent customer service
  • Be prepared to work hard, but also pause to celebrate inevitable victories
  • Revel in making end-users’ lives better with the software the team produces
  • Strive to constantly grow, improving as an engineer, leader, and person
  • Anticipate and prevent problems and roadblocks before they occur, and present technical issues and their impact to leadership

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience developing commercial software
  • Strong mentoring and team leadership skills
  • A solid background in a SaaS delivery platform for a high-availability environment
  • Extensive experience with fast-paced, growth environment
  • Extensive experience with object-oriented programming and design
  • Extensive experience with web services, service-oriented architectures, and APIs
  • Experience with modern, client-side single-page application development and/or experience with Java & Spring/Hibernate
  • Experience with Java and/or JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Experience with SQL
  • Strong software engineering process knowledge, including re-factoring, test-driven development, and continuous integration
  • Extensive experience in automated testing practices including unit testing, integration testing, UI testing and/or performance testing
  • A strong foundation in the scientific method and general analytical skills
  • A knack for working collaboratively with other engineers, testers, and product owners
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS or related field is nice, but aptitude and experience trump. We find that the best software engineers come from many diverse backgrounds

Experience that would be a plus:

  • Experience with React / Node / GraphQL
  • Responsive user interfaces using Material UI
  • Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience with Spring & Spring Boot
  • Writing integration tests and UI automation tests with Selenium, Cypress or similar
  • Groovy / JUnit / Spock
  • Exposure to various MV* architectures such as Angular, Ember, React or Backbone
  • Modern frontend engineer workflow and build tools such as npm, webpack, etc.
  • Git, GitHub, GitLab, and/or Jira
  • Continuous Integration experience with Jenkins, GitLab or similar
  • Native mobile development for iOS and/or Android
  • Public cloud APIs and hosting
  • Passion for fitness or sports: e.g. CrossFit, Martial Arts, or Yoga
  • Prior experience developing or integrating with a CRM
