Job Description

Position Title: Nature in Communities Campaigner

Terms: Full-time 1-year term (4-day week). Some travel, weekend and evening work may be required.

Location: Based at our Toronto office and remote during pandemic conditions

Reporting to: Nature in Communities Specialist  

Salary: 55-60k depending on experience

We are looking for a collaborative and solutions-oriented campaigner who will play a critical role in the success of the new Nature in Communities program, and to manage the stewardship of our existing and popular Butterflyway Project.

Responsibilities

  • Help to grow the Foundation’s new Nature in Communities program
  • Assist the planning and implementation of new and existing campaigns and projects
  • Manage stewardship and administration of the Butterflyway Project
  • Lead the development of content for web, social media, print and advocacy
  • Represent the Nature in Communities program externally and within DSF
  • Countless other duties, as required

Qualifications

Skills, Experience and Knowledge Required

  • Must-haves:
    • Impeccable project management and strategic planning skills;
    • Superb communication and content creation skills;
    • Experience stewarding keen volunteers;
    • Extraordinary wit and/or sense of humour;
    • Strong knowledge of urban biodiversity and conservation issues.
  • Nice-to-haves:
    • Experience with non-profit organizations;
    • Skilled media and events spokesperson;
    • Government relations savvy;
    • Affection for puns, alliteration and whimsy.
