The David Suzuki Foundation is seeking proposals from professional designers to support multiple public facing projects and campaigns to produce engaging digital content.

Job Description

Location: Remote work near one of our Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver offices

Term: May 2019, 6-month term with the possibility of extension. Flexible part time hours on a weekly basis, typically from Monday to Thursday.

Budget: $10,000 - $15,000 for 10 hours a week over 6 months, dependent on experience

Scope of Work: The Digital Content Designer will work collaboratively with several DSF staff across Canada and will report directly to the Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager.

Working within DSF brand guidelines, the contractor will:

  • Brainstorm, conceptualize, plan and design compelling content for multiple online channels, including social, web and email
  • Provide creative input and visual recommendations for campaign and project work
  • Source high quality images and videos
  • Modify and update existing materials
  • Create and edit videos for social media
  • Maintain an organized and accessible design file library and support the creation of a digital asset management system

Materials to be designed:

  • Graphics and video for all social channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn)
  • Instagram and Facebook Stories
  • Visual/graphics for social media advertising
  • Infographics
  • Posters
  • Email and website banners

The Digital Content Designer will ensure all designs uphold our brand guidelines and meet the criteria of our Science Integrity Protocol. All final materials and design files remain the property of DSF and must be stored in an accessible location for future use.

Qualifications

Timeline

Over a 6-month period, the Digital Content Designers availability must be flexible to meet project timelines and key milestones set by the Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager. Meetings in one of our offices will be required from time to time.

Budget

For the outlined work of 10 hours a week over 6 months, the budget range will be within $10,000 to $15,000 including taxes.

Requirements

Skills, experience and knowledge required:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience designing content for digital channels; including social, web and email
  • Expert skills in adobe design programs
  • Superb written and interpersonal communication skills required. French language skills are an asset
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment or with environmental focused organizations

Period of Award

The award period for this contract will be approximately May to October 2019. The selected contractor will be required to enter into a contract with David Suzuki Foundation for a 6-month period. The contract may be renewed upon mutual agreement, but at the discretion of DSF.

Criteria of Selection

In reviewing candidates, we are looking for:

  • Skills and creativity: Submit portfolio samples that demonstrate technical and creative execution, particularly for similar content
  • Capability: Your experience, clients serviced, projects of note, technical skills, project management methodology and ability to meet milestones
  • References: Provide a list of three current professional references
