Job Description

Data Architect

As a Data Architect, you inspire our prospects and customers to invest their time and energy in new technologies and approaches. In partnership with account executives, you work to qualify, educate, and lead the design and adoption of the DataStax Astra platform for customers solutions. You are on the customer front-line, providing deep, technical expertise and enthusiastically sharing this knowledge in front of others externally and internally. You will own the technical relationships with customers as they modernize and realize business value over time. You will use your technical acumen and passion for data-driven, generative AI and vector search solutions to inspire customers you work with to utilize Astra for their real-time AI and data use cases. This is how DataStax defines our technical pre-sales roles.

 

What you will do:

  • Discover and learn customer AI and data strategy, objectives, projects and what they are trying to achieve. Understand if/how DataStax solutions would bring value to the use case

  • Demonstrate how DataStax Astra solutions would support the customers AI and data modernization strategy and achieve transformational outcomes

  • Discover new, quality opportunities, leveraging relationships with the customer base and interactions with broader technical communities (e.g. Meetups)

  • Qualify technical requirements and effectively articulate DataStax's ability to meet these needs

  • Provide guidance on best practices for using DataStax Astra solutions, identifying areas for improvement within the platform, and cultivating technical champions within customer organizations who will drive adoption. Gather feedback to enhance DataStax products

  • Deliver hands-on developer and architectural interactions remotely or on-site at customer locations

  • Lead customers through technical Proofs of Concept that showcase the technical and business value of our platform

  • Collaborate with account executives to develop account strategies and plans

  • Take ownership of the customer narrative, serving as the voice of the customer and providing feedback to the product and engineering teams

  • Help build a culture of knowledge sharing in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Embrace learning new technologies and stay abreast of the AI and distributed computing landscape

  • Work remotely and travel up to 25% of the time

 

Your experience should include:

  • Experience influencing and inspiring customer selection of software or technology

  • Extensive experience in a specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, data & analytics)

  • Strong public cloud computing experience

  • Experience creating and deploying GenAI/Vector Search and/or other AI/ML solutions (e.g. for training, tuning, and inference)

    • Deep and Sparse AI Learnings

    • Prompt engineering

  • Software development experience (e.g. Python, Node.js/JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Rust, Java, R)

  • Design, implementation, and/or consulting experience in application and data-driven infrastructure (database, streaming, etc.)

  • Teaching and mentoring customers and those you work with (and you enjoy this)

  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic, and remote work environment

  • Working knowledge of deep learning, machine learning and statistics

  • Exceptional communication and data presentation skills
