Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager at our DataStax, you will play a crucial role in driving the efficiency and effectiveness of our organization. Acting as a coach and utilizing various tools and techniques, your primary objective will be to ensure that our projects stay on track and are delivered on time. You will be responsible for driving the unification of our engineering processes, managing the launch cycle, and providing regular progress reports.

Responsibilities:

Engineering Process Unification: Take charge of streamlining and standarding our engineering processes across different teams and projects. Work closely with engineering leads to define and implement best practices, ensuring a consistent approach and efficient execution.

Project Management: Lead and manage a wide range of projects within the organization, collaborating with both the community and core business functions. Drive projects towards higher quality and faster delivery, while maintaining strong alignment with strategic objectives.

Database Development: Contribute to the development of our database software by leveraging the strengths of our diverse global workforce. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and inclusion.

Agile Methodologies: Apply agile principles and project management methodologies to drive iterative and incremental development processes. Facilitate agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure effective project execution.

Measurement Reporting: Establish and maintain robust measurement and reporting mechanisms to track project progress, identify risks, and highlight key performance indicators. Provide accurate and timely reports to stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making.

Requirements:

Agile and PM Methodologies: Strong understanding and practical experience with agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and project management frameworks. Ability to adapt and tailor these methodologies to suit the specific needs of the organization.

Successful Measurement Reporting: Proven track record in developing and implementing effective measurement and reporting systems. Ability to define meaningful metrics, analyze data, and present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

High Level of Empathy and EQ: Possess excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional intelligence. Ability to understand and empathize with team members, stakeholders, and customers, fostering strong relationships and promoting collaboration.

Proficiency with Tools: Strong familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, as well as collaboration platforms commonly used in software development. Ability to leverage these tools to enhance project visibility, collaboration, and productivity.

PMP Certification: Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles, practices, and standards.

Experience in an Open Source Environment is a plus: Prior experience working in an open source software development ecosystem, understanding the dynamics and culture of open source communities. Familiarity with managing community contributions and engaging with open source projects is highly desirable.
