This position is NOT a simple database administration and maintenance position. It requires deep understanding and hands-on skills of database design concepts and T-SQL language.

A qualified SQL Server Programmer should be able to create complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures in SQL Server 2008 or better. He/She must also be able to analyze both complex database schemas and large amounts of data.

▪ Bachelors Degree in CS or equivalent work experience in the technical arena

▪ 5+ years in a software developer role

▪ Effective and clear written and verbal communication - the ability to communicate complex thoughts and ideas ina clear and concise manner

▪ Experience working directly with end users

▪ Experience in accurately estimating timelines and work efforts, and a history of hitting your estimates

▪ History of documenting designs and development for current/future reviews

▪ Experience enhancing and supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications

▪ Ability to multi-task, working on multiple projects and/or provide ongoing enhancements and support to existing applications

IT Skills

▪   Database Design and Architecture
Ability to create and analyze complex database schemas for high performance and highly scaleable databases. Also must have the ability to analyze large amounts of data to make sure data integrity for complex business applications. Must have a strong understanding of database design concepts.

▪  SQL Server Administration
Ability to set up physical or virtual SQL Server 2012 (or better) databases or databases on SQL Azure. Also having the ability to ensure smooth operation of such databases through optimization and handling disaster recovery scenarios for business continuity.

▪  T-SQL
Ability to create tables, views, stored procedures and functions in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or better.

IT - Database Design & Architecture

▪ Create and Improve Data Models
Create and/or improve data models that represent business functions and operational entities that will provide the back-end data layer for applications.

▪ Design and Create Database Objects
As instructed by system architect, design and create database objects e.g. tables, stored procedures,

views, etc. making sure to follow all approved conventions and industry/IT Department best practices.

IT - Database Management Responsibilities

▪ Maintain Security
Maintain security for information systems processing or data processing environment.

▪ Preventive maintenance
Take system "off-line"  to perform database maintenance. Process automated routines for databases and records on the computer system. Load new software, versions or software releases that affect data structures.
