Job Description

Are you experienced in machinery sales? Do you have a roofing, metal components, or precision fabricating background?

Our client is growing and requires an experienced Sales Engineer. The ideal candidate should have customer-facing experience in architectural metal, roofing, advanced sheet metal fabrication, HVAC, and/or industrial fabrication to be considered for this role. The primary responsibility will be to reach out to potential customers, understand their needs, and communicate how your products and solutions can meet those needs to earn commissions.

Your role will involve building and maintaining strong professional relationships with customers and following up on leads obtained from trade shows and the Internet. Understanding the products and staying up-to-date with the latest knowledge is imperative. You must also monitor industry trends and competitors and use this knowledge to help position offerings effectively.

You will work closely with sales, marketing, and other departments to optimize sales strategies and achieve overall business objectives. You are desired to be adaptable and responsive to changing demands and able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

The base salary is up to $85k, with a potential commission of up to $150k. Our client has been in business for over 100 years and offers many benefits, including health, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance and a 401k employee savings and profit-sharing plan. 

Factory-trained technical training will be provided on proprietary machines in the USA and Germany.

Typical on-site hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Ideally, commuting to the client's facility in Illinois or Tennessee would be best. However, machinery sales experience in HVAC, roofing, metal roofing, and metalworks environments is considered regardless of your domestic location. Most travel is domestic, with up to 40% traveling to attend trade shows and visit customers. The typical travel is on Monday and home on Friday for the weekend.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have experience in machinery sales within the roofing/metal components/precision fabricating industry or equivalent experience.

You must have a bachelor's degree in business administration and/or industrial technology. (If you do not have the required degree(s), please indicate that you want to be considered for the outside sales role.) 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software experience is required. You should have strong communication skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, and have good time management and interpersonal skills.
