The Mission

Join a dedicated product team operating in full startup mode, building the next breakthrough social platform. We're creating something that's never existed before – and we need you to make it happen.

As a Backend Engineer in our mobile team (3 iOS devs, 3 Android devs, 2 backend devs), you'll be at the heart of product innovation. Here, code is a means, not an end: what matters is the impact on our millions of users.

We're not looking for architects obsessed with technical debt or building the perfect stack. We're looking for builders who want to iterate, test, and ship features that users love. Your code will directly power experiments that reach real audiences, giving you immediate feedback on what works and what doesn't.

What You'll Do

• Iterate at high velocity: experiment, test with our audience, then consolidate what works speed and learning over perfection
• Ship features that create real user value, taking calculated risks and smart shortcuts to maximize business impact
• Build and scale backend services and APIs (REST/GraphQL) that power a world-class mobile experience
• Collaborate closely with iOS/Android, Product, and QA teams with a shared product ownership mindset
• Evolve the architecture (async, event-driven, messaging) pragmatically to support growth without over-engineering
• Drive performance, reliability, and observability with full ownership and proactivity
• Shape the product culture and push the entire team toward excellence

You'll have the autonomy to make decisions, the freedom to experiment, and the responsibility to deliver results. This is not a role where you execute someone else's plan you'll be co-creating the product strategy.

Tech Stack

Core: Python (asyncio), FastAPI, REST/GraphQL, MySQL, RabbitMQ, Docker/K8s
Legacy/Bonus: PHP, Elasticsearch, MongoDB

The Must-Haves

• Strong backend programming skills with deep knowledge of Python (asyncio) and SQL databases
• Proven experience designing scalable APIs and event-driven architectures (queues/messaging)
• Data-driven approach to decision-making with a strong interest in analytics
• Results-oriented mindset: you constantly find relevant shortcuts and pragmatic solutions
• Fluent in English + French mandatory
• 5-10 years of experience minimum

The Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in B2C startups where you've seen products grow from 0 to 1
• Interest in AI and ML applications in consumer products
• Side projects that show your passion for building and experimenting
• Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with mobile-first architectures and constraints

Interview process

• HR Interview with Marvin (30 min): Get to know each other, discuss your motivations, and align on role expectations

• Manager Interview with Stephen, your future manager (45 min): Deep dive into the role requirements, assess your technical background and problem-solving approach, and challenge your skills through concrete scenarios

• Technical Case Study (1 hour) : Work on a take-home case study followed by a presentation to two member of our tech team, this gives you a chance to showcase your technical thinking and understand what you'd be working on, while helping us evaluate the fit with our needs

• Leadership Interview with N+2 (1 hour) : Discuss long-term career goals, understand how this role fits into Dailymotion's broader strategy, and explore growth opportunities within the organization
