We're looking for an exceptional Senior Backend Engineer to join our Creator Platform team within Studio. The Creator Platform is a critical part of our Studio organization, focused on building and maintaining the tools and services that help creators succeed across the entire Dailymotion ecosystem. 

As a member of this team, you'll work alongside product, design, data and other engineers on features that directly impact how creators upload, manage, monetize, and grow their content on Dailymotion. Your work will empower creators—from independent artists to major media companies—to reach their audiences and build successful channels. 

This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in ambiguity, love diving into uncharted territory, and can navigate complex systems with limited documentation. If you're energized by exploration, prefer autonomy over hand-holding, and can turn messy problems into elegant solutions—all while keeping creators' needs at the center of your work—we want to hear from you. 

What you’ll do 

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power creator-facing features across Dailymotion 
• Work across our technology stack—primarily Python with legacy PHP systems—in both monolithic and microservices architectures 
• Tackle complex technical challenges in video processing, content management, creator workflows, and platform scalability 
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions, balancing technical excellence with creator needs and business objectives 
• Produce clear, comprehensive technical specifications that enable seamless collaboration across multiple engineering teams 
• Be highly responsive in your communications—answer questions promptly, provide timely updates, and keep stakeholders informed 
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and learning from others 
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that others can understand and build upon 
• Champion engineering best practices including testing, documentation, observability, and operational excellence

What we’re looking for 

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping production systems at scale 
• Strong proficiency in Python. Experience with PHP (or willingness to work with legacy PHP codebases) 
• Comfort leveraging AI-assisted workflows for prototyping, debugging, testing, or documentation, with a clear understanding of their limitations competitive advantage 
• Deep understanding of backend fundamentals: APIs, databases, caching, queuing systems, distributed systems 
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts, async processing, and event-driven architectures 
• Understanding of API design principles (REST, GraphQL, or similar) 
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) 
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools 
• Comfortable with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows 
• Track record of working independently and delivering results with minimal supervision 
• Experience at a product company or startup where you've had to figure things out with limited resources
