Our tool acts as a wrapper around an organization's existing tool stack to bring together internal comms, task management and no-code automations, allowing HR Teams to achieve consistency, equity and measure the success of their initiatives.
Dado is a distributed, fully remote company headquartered in Berlin, Germany. We welcome candidates who are based almost anywhere in the world, but working typical office hours in GMT, GMT+1 or GMT+2 timezones.
Job Description
Dado is looking for an Engineering Lead ready to take the next step up, to join our team as the company moves into its next phase of growth. You’d be working closely with the leadership team, contributing to the company’s strategic direction, and leading the product development. The right candidate would be happiest when most of their role is a mix of hands-on coding, technical architecture, and strategic decision making. This role starts off as an IC with the option (but not the requirement) to progress to people management.
Dado’s product automates the tedious manual work involved in running HR programs like onboarding, offboarding, mentorship programs, training, offsites, and more. The product is 3 years old, with a strong foundation and a broad feature set beloved by customers. The techstack is Typescript in both front- and back-end, serverless cloud functions, a real-time database (Firestore), and a React front-end.
Qualifications
Your background
The right person for this role is a senior IC, or someone looking to move back to IC after a people management role. You might have previously been principal/staff engineer or engineering lead at an early-stage start-up; run an engineering team for a new product at an existing company, and/or founded a start-up, an open-source project or similar.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to take the next step up to have more strategic impact, after excelling at their current level. Everyone on the Dado leadership team has learned part of their current role while working here, and we provide a supportive environment to develop into new areas.

Requirements
Leading the hands-on coding, at first solo and then working closely with other engineers to provide feedback and guidance on their code
Experience with serverless systems, "time-based" applications (e.g. operating task and scheduling queues for actions performed at specific points in time) and ideally Google Cloud
Able to direct technical strategy and system architecture, and collaborate with leadership on the broader product strategy
Solid grounding in security practices. Experience working on a security audited product is a plus
Strong communication skills and an understanding of good communication practices for remote and distributed teams
Enjoys the challenges and opportunities of working at an early-stage/bootstrapped start-up with a small team
Based anywhere, but working in GMT, GMT+1 or GMT+2 timezones.
Available to work full time with some flexibility available
Very Optional: If you are interested in developing as a people manager, this role can progress in this direction. However, if you have zero interest in people management, the role can stay as a pure IC.
