Company Description

Created in 2008, DON’T NOD is an independent studio which creates and develop AA games in various genres : adventure (Life is Strange, Tell Me Why, Twin Mirror), action (Remember Me) and RPG (Vampyr). Each new game is an original creation with unique narrative gameplay experience and game mechanics.

In 2020, DON’T NOD expanded internationally by creating its first branch in Montreal.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Producer of the Montreal studio, you will be responsible for the visual effects of the game. You will contribute to the visual charter and respect of the graphic DNA.

Your mission will be to:

  • Conceive, realize and integrate all the visual effects of our next narrative game in collaboration with the different teams of the project (camera, gameplay, animation, characters, environment, audio, etc.);
  • Define and prioritize your tasks, estimate their costs, ensure their follow-up by ensuring that the schedule established with the production team is respected to meet the needs of the project. You will also be in charge of the optimization and debugging of the effects;
  • Collaborate with the Art Director of the project to define the graphic style of the VFXs;
  • Collaborate with the other project teams (art, animation, programming, design) to list the VFX needs of the gameplay and cinematics of the game, then realize them;
  • Regularly exchange with the VFX Director on the progress, needs and issues of the Montreal project, collaborating with him on the implementation of VFX manufacturing processes;
  • Exchange with VFX Artists from other projects on experiences, solutions, tracks and interesting tools.

Qualifications

The must-have skills we're looking for

  • At least 3 years experience in 3D effects, on a console or PC project;
  • A sharp eye for composition and timing;
  • Mastery of a 3D software, ideally Houdini or Maya;
  • Ease with collaborating in an iterative and constructive manner in a team environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, in both French and English.

What would set you apart?

  • Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine.
