Our membership currently includes 15 community health centers and community-based organizations located in the District of Columbia and the Maryland suburbs. Between them, our members own and operate nearly 60 health care delivery sites that serve approximately 200,000 residents. 

Job Description

DC Primary Care Association’s (DCPCA) member health centers provide comprehensive primary care to 1 in 4 Washington D.C. residents, reaching a total of over 1 million visits a year. DCPCA’s Quality Improvement (QI) team provides member health center staff with the training and tools to strengthen and improve access to care, operational excellence, and health outcomes. Our member health centers provide high-quality, comprehensive, affordable, culturally-competent medical, dental, and behavioral health care.

The Coordinator is part of an innovative department at DCPCA, supporting the improvement of patient outcomes through implementation of evidence-based services. DCPCA’s QI department supports health centers through technical assistance, face-to-face trainings, webinars, dissemination of resources and peer-to-peer connections. Our work is data-driven, evidence-based, and grounded in QI principles. We seek solutions to systemic healthcare obstacles for vulnerable populations.

Our QI department supports health center clinical and administrative staff on a range of care topics. For this role, we are seeking someone with experience with primary care operations, specifically in regards to emergency preparedness and response. Emergency preparedness touches all aspects of operations, including patient safety, compliance, and workforce development.

The ideal candidate brings a broad background of experience in healthcare or public health with direct experience with primary care settings. This talented professional has the ability to balance multiple priorities and creatively use available resources to drive transformation. Excellent training and meeting-facilitation skills are a must with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. This professional will possess a customer-service orientation, with enthusiasm for finding solutions to complicated questions. This is a dynamic position with a high degree of independence and flexibility, allowing space for an entrepreneurial spirit to pursue their passions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Provide Technical Support and Training to Health Centers:

  • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate learning sessions/trainings for health center staff in collaboration with project partners including curriculum design, agenda setting, and trainer identification.
  • Serve as a resource for members on key content areas – connecting health center staff with the tools and resources they need to reach their care goals.
  • Provide technical assistance to member health centers around identified needs.
  • Work intensively with health center teams participating in assigned projects to refine delivery system and implement best practice concepts.
  • Design, develop, and implement member assessments around clinical performance and TA needs to identify opportunities for improvements and possible solutions.
  • Lead in the coordination of health center Peer Groups, including planning meeting logistics, communicating with members, preparing content for meetings, and directing follow-up coordination.

Knowledge Contribution:

  • Work with local and national agencies, independent subject matter experts, and member clinics to identify best practices and evidence-based practices.
  • Conduct research to expand the QI department’s subject matter expertise.
  • Disseminate resources to health center staff in pursuit of project-specific goals.
  • Prepare project reports, memos and maintain project records and statistical information.
  • Support administration of program grants and deliverables including coordination of project activities, tracking deadlines, reporting activities, and convening the stakeholders needed to ensure that projects and products are of the highest quality.
  • Attend relevant stakeholder and advisory meetings to support overall program implementation and evaluation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 5 years of relevant work experience equivalent.
  • Knowledge of emergency preparedness.
  • Experience working with or in primary care settings/clinics.
  • Excellent meeting-facilitation skills.
  • Proven ability to teach others and conduct trainings for adult audiences.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proven experience with project management, in particular demonstration of ability to organize various activities and goals, manage multiple projects simultaneously, plan strategically, and see projects through to completion.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with proven ability to develop effective relationships and work collaboratively with physicians and diverse stakeholders (government, community, and business environments).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, staff and external organizations.
  • Team-player, ability to coordinate work collaboratively and resolve conflicts.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly gather information (quantitative and qualitative), identify trends, and propose solutions.
  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in or with a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)

Additional Information

Compensation

DCPCA offers competitive salary based on experience and skills of employees. Specifically, for this position, the salary range is $75,000 - $100,000 a year. Additionally, DCPCA provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 403b match, ancillary benefits, access to Flexible Spending Accounts, and generous leave benefits.

DCPCA is offering a $2,000 sign on bonus for this position! Please note that this will need to be paid back if tenure does not last at least 1 year.

ADA Specifications

This position will be based in an office in Washington D.C. but will require travel to health centers throughout D.C. This position is primarily sedentary and may require some bending and lifting.

DCPCA is a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This job may experience high work demands under tight timelines.
