Role: Solaris Administrator
Location: NYC

- EMC SAN technologies (RDF, DMX, Symmetric Unix Command set)
Key Accountabilities:
- Identifies and troubleshoots problems.
- Responds to inquiries in development, testing, and production environments, including file servers, application servers, and database servers.
- Ensures availability and integrity of servers and services with techniques such as performance tuning and system monitoring.
- Manages all upgrades and backups.
- Identifies opportunities within current environment for simplification/automation of tasks and devises and recommends solutions.
- Designs, develops and documents custom scripts and tools to simplify and automate tasks.
- Identifies when Upgrades software upgrades and patches software are needed to ensure servers are capable of meeting increased demand; determines, recommends and implements best solution.
- Also Identifies latest vulnerabilities and determines and implements appropriate patch for server software.
- 24/7 on call support - handling complex technical issues.
- Reviews capacity planning and performance monitoring of the server application and hardware; makes recommendations for changes/enhancements needed to ensure performance levels meet expectations.
- Researches and evaluates new technologies.
- Make recommendations for changes enhancements based on research, including developing design/technical proposals.
- Research new technologies and present recommendations and justifications on major hardware and software purchases.
