Job Description

Position Summary

Conduct various activities to support involving procurement of goods and services in support of producing company products and in support of the R&D Department.  Evaluate supplier performance to quality and delivery requirements, and assist in providing new sources of supply as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Review requisitions to ensure that the request is valid and meets procedural requirements.
  • Review reports against open/closed POs and reconcile for accuracy.
  • Check accuracy of requests against specifications.
  • Identify qualified suppliers and negotiate best price for products/services.
  • Provide engineering staff with status reports of material usage as requested.
  • Assure the smooth flow of materials into and through the facility with close interaction with suppliers, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Engineering.
  • Interact with product engineering and quality assurance to insure that requirements and quality on all commodities are maintained.
  • Identify and Procure items under his/her responsibility for the production needs based on established inventory goals.
  • Ensure availability of components and materials in order to support production process.
  • Maintain good communication with suppliers and production supervisors to assure timely delivery of materials.
  • Conduct problem solving and performance improvement with suppliers as needed to resolve delivery and/or quality issues.
  • Facilitate communication of supplier issues with the Materials Manager as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with QSR, (Quality System Regulations) as well as other applicable regulations related to environmental, safety, and health.
  • Procure requirements at lowest cost, consistent with quality and service required.
  • Review schedules and forecasts and Issue Purchase Order/Requisitions per the SOPs.
  • Enter, expedite and track Purchase Orders with suppliers to insure deliveries, Blanket Orders, Vendor Managed Inventory, etc. are in alignment with production requirements.
  • Assist in eliminating non-value added steps throughout the value system.
  • Advise appropriate personnel of schedule or material availability changes.
  • Source and quote inventory items, inventory services, supplies and tooling in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  •  AA/BS degree desirable
  • Three to five years of experience in Operations in a medical device company, or other highly regulated/high tech manufacturing background - prefer purchasing background
  • Computer/Software literate (MS Office, ERP as appropriate)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of FDA GMP and ISO Certification requirements
  • Strong analytical/reasoning skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good multi-tasking ability
  • Ability to conduct effective negotiations, conflict resolution, presentation and facilitation skills
